So confused PLEASE HELP

What's the difference in IGG and IGM???? Last year I test positive for IGG (6.84) this year I went back to the GYN and they told me I don't have Herpes the test they ran though was blood and it says IGM and my IGM levels are (.90) I'm so confused

Break down:

Dr. X - test was blood- IGG- 6.84 - Says I have HSV ( G Herpes)

Dr. Y - test was blood - IGM .90 - Says I don't have Herpes

I need to know do I or don't I ...

This is the message my dr just sent me that says I don't have Herpes....

HSV Types 1 & 2 IgM 0.00 - 0.89 Index <0.90

Comments: Negative: <0.90

Equivocal: 0.90-1.09

Positive: >1.09

The following results were obtained with the Diamedix

immunosimplicity Is-HSV1 and 2 IgM EIA Test System.

The magnitude of the measured result, above the cut-off,

is not indicative of the total amount of antibody present.

The magnitude of the reported IgM level cannot be correlated

You herpes lab was negative.

The IgM test for herpes is inaccurate and prone to errors, so is not recommended by HSV experts and the CDC as a result, but is still widely available and wrongly ordered by doctors. You cannot rely on the results and the other person who replied to you is wrong about it being suitable for diagnosing infections under 3 months. The IgM test should never be ordered, period.

I would thus totally ignore your IgM results and only focus on your IgG results. Do you have a breakdown of that? Looks like it might not be type-specific, in which case that raises all sorts of other questions, especially since you've never had an outbreak before. If I were you, I would retest for HSV1 and HSV2 using a type-specific IgG test only.

Do you have an email address where I can email you images of both the IGM done recently and the IGG done over a year ago?
