So how long can you immune system actually "last"

Hi all, I'm a 32 year old healthy male with no underlying medical problems. However I've been sick for about 5 weeks now. Just over a month ago I had a fever while travelling. While the fever itself lasted only 2-3 days, it feels like the infection just isn't going away. Over the last 4 weeks I've been having countless sleepless nights and overall sleeping terrible. Now I can sleep a few hours a night with Melatonin and Valerian, not an ideal situation. These days I feel extremely fatigued and have to catch my breath after simple daily activities. Have no energy to go to work or do any strenuous exercise. I'm still coughing up sputum, and feel like I'm short on breath at times. My doctor and I both agree I have a lot of anxiety, especially due to the Coronavirus. But I'm sure it's not all anxiety, as I highly suspect a chest infection. I'm worried how long can your "immune system" keep working for before it gets "tired" and decides to quit? What if I catch the Coronavirus now? I'm worried that my immune system would not be well equipped to deal with it as it has already been fighting an infection for a while so it's not in tip-top shape. These days I'm constantly anxious. It's very difficult not to keep thinking about it. Would appreciate any advice.

I am replying you because this is happening to me, I got ill last 2months And I firstly thought it was a penile infection which I took antibiotics for, immediately I took the antibiotics my health begin to deteriorating that I was always feeling dead sick and my fatigue level was so high that I was feeling I would die, all test came out fine with just malaria and typhoid slight occurance but my feelings was more than what they saw…so I gave to God to deal with my anxiety… Anxiety can kick up your illness to feel it’s more than its seen. Just believe in God and cast all your mind in him.. Word of God has helped me Isaiah 53vs5

The problem is that these days due to the Coronavirus situation the doctors are not even interested unless you are close to dying!

This is what I’m mostly concerned about. How much worse do I need to be to be taken seriously by a doctor.

Everyday I have some energy for minor household tasks but that’s about it. It’s sad to think I don’t even have 10% of the energy I used to have, which was only 5-6 weeks ago!

Hi MKQQ, You didn’t say where you travelled to but, there are a lot of viral /bacterial/illnesses…have you been checked for infection, tuberculosis, malaria? Have you had a recent chest xray? A viral illness can create a bacterial infection which is treated with anti-biotics…Keep check of your temp, for now…Your DR should run bloodwork, if they haven’t yet…or find another doctor…Just because you don’t have Corona doesn’t mean DRs should neglect you…Yes, you need to be very careful, wash your hands avoid going out, with a chest infection of unknown source, take precautions…social distancing or avoidance…Your immune system fluctuates depending on what is happening in your body and on how you take care of yourself…if you have questions about your immune system, ask your DR if they recommend anything to help keep your immune system strong, your immune system is working, it may not be able to FIX what’s wrong,(something requiring treatment with meds) why its dragging on and on…it sounds like you still need medical support, if its not going away, with fatigue…you could be run down or it needs more time but, if it bothers YOU, bother THEM…Good Luck, Hope you’re feeling better soon…BEST WISHES:wedding::peace_symbol::infinity::musical_notes::paw_prints::rainbow::four_leaf_clover:
