Could really do with people to talk too. Ive had anxiety for years but this last year has been a real battle with it. Constantly convinces im dying with every and any symptom I feel especially heart related. Ive had a really tough week admittedly but tonight I have got heart palpitations more than ever before, I cant switch off, ive tried my usual relaxation techniques but nothing is helping. I feel on edge and like im going to die or have a heart attack, im so scared I just keep sitting here crying. Could really use some people who understand
Hey Kerry.
What you are feeling is just anxiety created by anxious thoughts...or vice versa.
I know that it very scary. Lots of us here have these thoughts but they are just a off shoot of anxiety.
Inam currently reading Paul David's "At last a life" and it's excellent for explaining anxiety and how to deal with it. I also go on YouTube and find guided meditations to help me relax.
Im not going to tell you not to be frightened because that will happen regardless of what I say.
You are not having a heart attack or dying Hun,it's all just anxiety and although it feels horrendous,it cannot harm you xxx
Hi kerry. I too feel exactly how your feeling. I'm currently taking 10mg of prozac per day. I have been on them for 3 days. And executive stress b vitamins twice per day. Ive always been a happy go lucky kind of person. When nothing bothered me until a couple of month's ago I had my first really bad panic attack. Now everyday I live in fear of having another one. My anxiety gets so bad I find myself crying my eyes out wanting to feel like my old self again. Ive never understood how ppl could get depression anxiety and not just get over it. It honestly feels like ive been shoved in a hole with no ladder to get out.
Hi I've had exactly the same symptoms, although very frightening, they are coming from your anxiety. Go to your GP and explain how you feel and ask him/her if you could have some Beta Blockers, as they will stop or reduce all the frightening symptoms you are experiencing. This type of medication is safe and non addictive, so the Doc should have no probs giving you a script. I've gone through all your explaining, so let me know how your progressing once youv'e seen the Doc! Bluepeter
Thank you both for your replies.
Gillian I will look into that book, I think it would help to read something that explains it aswell as helping to deal with it. Its so hard to stop it taking over once it kicks in. I hate this feeling and despite having it most nights and being able to reason with myself I get the odd bad night where I can't.
emma im sorry to hear you havent long had your first panic attack, my first one knocked me for six, it does get easier to some extent as you find your own ways of dealing with things. Hope ypu feel much better soon xx
Hi Kerry I'm feeling the exact same tonight! I took a very bad panick attack today and I've been so fragile since my chest is still of tight my breathing is stl a bit weird I still feel lightheaded and jumpy and I now have a headache😞 I'm terrified to go asleep! I feel your pain Hun xx

Me too I'm wrecked but I'm actually so scared to go asleep because of my breathing😞xx
Kerry, I also felt like that when I was your age, and it's terrifying. What you need to do is to contact your out of hours health centre or go to your nearest Hospital A&E department, you explain to them how you feel and get some short term medication for your fears, for me a low dose of anti psychotics (5Mg of Stemetil) will probably help you within minutes of taking them, beta blockers such as Propananol might help if the doc is not willing to give you the Stemetil. If you could contact a friend to help you go to A&E or whatever that might help, but the medication is more important, there should be no problem in giving you say 3 to 4 tablets untill you see your own GP.
Sorry I forgot to tell you to try and slow down your breathing, as fast breathing will make you feel dizzy which in turn will make you panic more, just breath in slowly, and out slowly, this should help a bit, sometimes a glass of water (don't take alcohol or coffee/tea until the breathing is slowed down) as too much caffeene can make you nervous, Bluepeter.
Hi Kerry, I too have had palpitations for 7 years. All began when I was 20. I would get 1 or 2 a month, the gradually built up to every week then every day. For years I dwelled on a heart problems ect...I have had loads of trips to A+E were if had blood tests/chest xray loads of ECG and even had an echo heart scan. All tests were ok but I was never having any Palps when getting tests done. Last year I had major Palps every minute so back to A+E were they caught them on ECG. Cardiovascular specialist confirmed the were Ectopic beats. These are harmless and are a faulse signal from the brain basically. I still get th em when I get anxious, but exercise really help get rid. It sound you may have similar to me. Don't painic about them it will not help. Visit docs or A+E for tests to put your mind at ease. I honestly know how you feel, I feel I have been to he'll and back trying to find what these are and the worry of dropping dead or heart issues ect... I also started with chest panin and dizzyness on top so back to docs and it my anxiety back with more unexplained pains... Hope thing improve for you, stay positive and you get through..
Thank you, I have booked to see my doctor friday....again. but hopefully will get somewhere this time. Thanks for all your help
Thank you for your message, it certainly sounds like I'm feeling similar to the way you do. I too have been to hospital and had ecgs, xrays, ultrasounds and all came back clear. Yet I suffer almost every night with chest pains and the fear of dying through heart related issues such as heart attacks etc. I hate the feeling but can't seem to fight past it this time
You will chick. You are just vulnerable and tired right now which is the reason them thoughts come and frighten you so much. As your recovery progresses and you become stronger, your mind will clear and you will see the thoughts for what they are...thoughts,thought with a anxious tired mind. You won't even have to argue with them or reason with yourself..you will just shrug and know that it's no big deal xx
Thanks so much Gillian that makes a lot of sense, I know deep down I'm tired and unfortunately it's a bit of a vicious circle as I'm exhausted but that makes me more anxious and uunable to sleep xx
