Oh ime angry i have an issue with weight doctor has said it's an eating disorder I have as I hate to even put on a pound the doctor put me amitriptyline for my fibro and I have felt over the last week I have gained weighed so I weighed myself tonight and yes I have put weight on I was trying to cut the dose down myself from 75mg and managed with the 50mg but when I went down to the 25mg I was awake the whole night so stuck with the 50mg but tmrw I need 2 go to gp as I can't take these tablets she never said a side effect was weight gain 😈😈
I have only today had my Amitripyline increased from 25 to 50 Is this what you are taking? Nobody mentioned to me that I may gain weight on them - I mean I am off food most of the time Is it Amitripyline you are talking about?
Yes it's amitriptyline I was on 75mg at night but my Tounge got so sore and dry I had 2 stop it after 2 nights I haven't made it to Dr's yet but will definitely be there tmrw
well they wont hun other wise you wont take them ,iv put weight on since having fibro ,because i cant be as active .
so i wont take anytablets for fibro because of the side effects and most of them have side effects of weight gain . or bloating .or dizziness, or increased sweating .
i already sufer from these so dont want to add to my problems ,
look up complex regional pain syndrome on the net it will help you understand the pain . i find magneisum oil and flakes in te bath help big time in relaxing the muscles and reliving pain and restless legs and cramps . .
i also use b12,q10 vitd3 and collegen capsuals hope theres something in there that helps .
Oh weight is an issue and it so bothers me too. I was ill over the Christmas period, had quite a traumatic time and put 10lbs on in 4 weeks and having great difficulty shifting it. Now my clothes don't fit which makes me feel down. I just hope that with spring coming I'll be able to get out on my bike and walk the dogs more. Apparently weight can be a problem for us; something to do with stress and cortisol levels. I wonder what the thinking is behind putting you on amitryptilline especially with your weight increasing. Is it to help your sleep cycle, muscle repair and pain?
I have put weight on but put that down to my inactivity My bloating I put down to my IBS I looked up the NHS site you recommended and had a good read of that It explains well A hot bath and a long soak does help for a little while I have learned now that if I take my amitripylene then get a nice hot bath before bed that I generally sleep better (unless its been a stressful day) Going to treat myself to some B12 tomorrow Thanks again
iv found accupunture or reflexology fortnightly helped my i bs and i also brought a self help hypnoses cd for ibs which help loads . now i get bouts from time to time but not constant like before ,
I am only on 10 mg of Amytriptyline, anymore and I would be a zombie!
I notice I have sugar cravings on it, and have to eat chocolate last thing at night.
Also weight gain is a side affect of this drug.
Have any of you looked into prescription only Vitamin D,not the over the counter ones.
I was put on this after being at a clinic and found out my level was nearly nil,so far fibro not as bad.It is called Dekrisol. And they say it is a hormone.
GP increased it as I suffer from insomnia and the paracetomol was doing nothing at all for the pain He also tells me it is an anti depressant but in a small dose
It was ment to help the pain but it hasn't done anything with the pain but definitely helps me sleep better
I was 2 try 75mg then gp was going 2 try another table if it didn't work I've given up takin meds now though as I had this a few year ago with gabapentin helped with the pain but no point being pain free but 2 fat 2 move around oh I give up
i always was asize 14 at 5ft5 and was quite happy at that .iw as always on the go hated sitting .walked miles .
now round the block kills me . i am now a size 20/22 and i hate it with a passion .
i did 5 days of taking a brisk 15 min walk, i loved it felt great to get out then came the pain flare that lasted 4 weeks . and the crushing fatigue along with it . so it just feels like i am trapped ,its nothing to do with being lazy like so many non sufferers and and gps seem to think
i buy mine in tablet form that go under the tongue and dissolve from a leading brand , there cherry flavour lovely .work well much better then the patches .i used before
I am a size 14 now and five foot five Do not want to gain any weight Worry constantly about the inactivity so much so that I tend to watch very carefully everything that I eat........ I have never considdered myself overweight as am toned and fit and dont want to be any bigger Surely that would only add to my problems? I have just purchased a yoga for beginners Dvd online and am hoping that there will be something there that I can do Will definitely discuss weight gain with my gp and see if he has an alternative Otherwise I can see me finding my own alternatives as you did Thanks again You have such good advice Tiswas
Yes I'm with you on that one, something my manager can't understand. I personally think the side effects of meds aren't worth persevering with. The last thing I want is to put more weight on! I know I should have researched my last med more than I did. The FDA is quite a good site for common side effects and drugs.com but that one's a little difficult to navigate.
dont stop moving once you stop its really hard to get started again
because your so sore, my symptoms really kicked in after my 3rd baby when i had extra baby weight he was nearly 10lbs , and i was like nellie the elephant by the end even thou i ate really well garlic chicken in bread crumbs and salad and steak and salad i had no sweet cravings at all and still the weight pilled on and iv never lost it . we tend to crave carbs . which are really bad when we cant excersise them of ,
Feeling for you Chris..same here, I put on lots of weight, I went on soo many fad diets, weight came off quickly-but not a sustained way of eating I put the weight straight back on... am on 25 mg have been for 16 years..good for me..I went on the Paleo eating regime 2 yrs ago, please google it, it's awesome..they have an Auto Imuune Protocol too. I lost heaps of weight..it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle..very very healthy..yet lots of food you can eat.. sooooo good...very very healthy, so gies against the flow in what everyone told us all our lives to eat and what not too...NO SUGAR- sooo bad for you....I get all my info on a website that's run by a dr...she is a nutritionist too and a sufferer too... it's basically high fat..low carbs.definitely no processed food...goes against everything we ever told about food..please check it out it will really open your eyes..be blessed..:-) xxAustralia
PS. Hope things work out for you soon...less stress in the Fibro key..
