so up and down on citalopram

This Is only day 8 but one I feel not to bad and the next horrid with crazy anxiety, it's like one good day followed by bad n so on, I also have a constant headache and general off feeling Is this normal?

In a word dizzy......yes, perfectly normal, there r many posts on this forum saying exactly the same as u, the 2 words 'up' and 'down' r probably the most used words when having anxiety! X

Hi Dizzy. The headache and the general 'off' feeling are quite common and do fade away but its not very comfortable to begin with.  The up and down syndrome is fairly typical manic behaviour when we have anxiety issues.  Hopefully the sharp peaks will start to even out.  Couple more weeks and you'll feel a whole lot better.

I'm so glad I joined this forum because all my questions and fears get answered from all the experiences you each have had.  It's the one thing that keeps me going because sometimes I think I should stop taking cit as I could feel any worse.

Well I've just been to the see the pharmacist and he's told me to hang in as it will get better and these are all normal side effects, it's made me feel better for now but tomorrow when I have a new sensation il be freaking again, anxiety is so unfair

dizzydoll. Look at the Notes in the box of medication and you will see that every side effect you are suffering is listed. I believe it also states if you suffer from ANY of them you should consult your doctor. That's there to cover the doctors who believe the Notes for the Patients are there for us to familiarize ourselves with. Very often with drugs of any sort, there are good days and bad ones. In other words we have to take the rough with the smooth and have bags of patience waiting for those good days. They often get so good we think we are cured!  Don't give up.
