so worried about this ache in my kidney area

I suffer with really bad health anxiety and worry like crazy over the slightest symptoms so right now im experiencing a sort of mild ache wherr my kidneys would be,i dont have any other symptoms that would suggest i have an infection, another thing i should say i gave birth 3 weeks ago and i have been straining myself alot with lifting my 2.5year old daughter ad not taking it easy when i shoulf be do u think maybe the aches in the back are from over doing it? I have an obssesion with googling my symptoms amd at the moment i think i have kidney cancer and im so worried about it, im only 20 years old can someone give me reassurance on this and has anyone had this before and it turn out yo be nothing serious? Thankyou.

Dear Maisiemarie

yes I absolutely do believe it is from lifting your child.  You need to give yourself a break.  You have just given birth.  You have two young children to look after. Do you have a partner or some support.  I am sure your feeling anxious as well.  If you need reassurance go see your dr.

take good care.

Yes all your symptoms point to over doing it in your situation, no reasons would point to liver cancer, so try be happy an enjoy kiddies xx

Thankyou lynda for your reply i feel like its defo me over doing it and pulling my back, the internet just gives you the worst case scenarios and then its on my mind all the time thinking i have a serious illness, i suffer with anxiety everyday and my whole body feels tense but il go to doctors if it doesnt go away soon, also i have alot of support but iam a single mum as me and my patner split during the pregnancy do im at home on my own quite abit with the children so it wouldnt suprise me if ive done my back in, i just wish my mind wouldstop thinking the worst all the time x

Thanks rubie for you reply i do hope its just a strain but its more to the right side of my back and lower back and ut hurts more after doing something abit strenuous like hoovering or bending down it also feels abit stiff and tight, sometimes i think its to do with my kidney as it aches right near it im just so scared its some sort if cancer :-(

It's most probably a water infection, but to put your mind at rest maybe just visit the G.P to confirm. U might need antibiotics. Xx

Maisiemarie

remember you don't have to believe every thought that comes into your head.  They are only thoughts.  Let them go and please stop googling symptoms.  You will drive yourself crazy.  We all know that is not a good idea.

take care

lynda

stop googling.! The best advice I have  ever received. A doctor friend told me that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, and  that is all you get from google,  you are not a doctor . Stop diagnosing yourself, play with your kids!

Thanks everyone il try my best to put this behind me and stop googling as i no it will only make things worse xx

Get a blood test! Many infections or abnormalities will show! Did you have a c section or cut! Scar tissue will do that as well! Good luck

Q&A from a website:

How can you tell the difference between muscle pain and kidney pain? I know the kidneys are in the lower back. So how do you tell the difference between regular back pain and kidney pain?

This is a great question, and you are right that it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between kidney pain and low back muscular pain, since both pains originate from basically the same region of the body. However, there are a few things that are helpful to distinguish the two pains. First, muscle pain tends to be lower in the back, close to where the hipbones are, and located just to either side of the spinal column. Often, when you press on the involved muscle, the pain will be worse, or the muscle will feel 'tender'. Also muscle pain tends to be worse with bending or movement. Kidney pain, on the other hand, tends to be deeper and higher in the back, located under the ribs. The pain tends to be more difficult to describe and less likely to feel like a cramp or muscle spasm. Also, there may be radiation of kidney pain down the leg into the groin.
