How soon were you able to put your socks on. I'm nearly 6 weeks and nowhere near
Well I very rarely wear socks or tights, so have not really tried until now nearly 6 months on. I can just about do it, but find it quicker with the gadget. Will have to master it before the winter!

Well, I was able to do mine at 4 weeks, but others her have done this at 8 weeks...so it varies!
My wife quite enjoyed putting me sox on for me b4 I could do my own.
The challenge for maybe 3 months is sox on standing up!!

haha yes my wife is getting tired of being asked to do it!! At 4 weeks did you do it sitting or standing?

Socks 4 weeks without aids no way. I tried the sock aid but it's useless for ankle socks
I can't get my socks on at 20 weeks sitting or standing. But my partner is here to help at all times .
Before surgery I could not put sock on right foot......have not even tried since surgery seven weeks ago as still told not to cross legs. I have an amazing simple thingy purchased on line...can't really describe it, sort of a tube that sock is fitted over then foot placed in tube and pulled up with tapes..easy... Jane

Re sox i purchased for £2 a sox putting on device from the OT at hospital during the days after the op. absolutely hopeless -my darling wife did it much better!
But, the grabber for £12 was an excellent buy.
Just missed acoffee cup holder on the crutches though to make life easier!

Hi Chirpyhipster. If you have hip precautions, I don't know how you would even be able to do socks without breaking the 90° rule or crossing the midline. Anyways, with my first hip, I didn't even try unil my hip precautions were lifted, and then it took sometime after that to be able to master putting on socks. My left, I'm only 2 weeks post op today, so it's the sock aide for me. Goodluck with the socks, and all the other little (major to us hippies) milestones you will reach along the way.

I live alone and still using sock-aid at approx 7 months post op from 1st THr and 32 days post-op from 2nd one and in between time -

Started putting a sock on operated foot at about 8 weeks post op, but still have to sit down to do it - my op was 5 months ago. The sock aid device thingy proved useless! As it was summertime, I wore socks as little as possible. Now it's autumn and socks are a daily routine, no problems really but causes a few huffs and puffs....😄.
It shouldn't be long now before you can sock yourself up!

I'm 9 weeks post op can put sock on my left foot but not
on op one and can't tie my shoes yet wonder if it's because
my right knee still abit swollen I have arthritis in this knee
and still have trouble bending it fully Try not to get to
disheartened I just think of things couldn't do 2 weeks ago
that I do now without thinking
I am happy to help you with this problem.
Lay flat on your back on the bed.
Drag your heel up to your butt.
Now you can reach your foot to put on both your shoes and socks.
I usually put an old bath towel on the bed when I was putting on my shoes this way.
So easy, you can do it yourself and you don't need any aids.

hahaha yes there's more chance of that happening than being able to put socks on in the manner described
I am 5 weeks post op today. I hve managed socks for a week or so but with a sock grabber. Odd piece of equipment but works. I believe it is called a sock grabber.
I am waitng for the 6 weeks to sleep on my side again..I hope....

Must have struck lucky with the design of the sock putter on that I got. Does ankle socks and knee highs well. Have not tried tights yet
