Some pain, some bleeding

I could be wrong but I thought it was BELOW the prostate where, if they muck up, you are rendered incontinent, as the urinary control sphincter is there.  I believe the risk of being mucked up there, is said to be slightly higher with greenlight than with the other de-core operations - I don't know why.

I know the bladder knock is a no fly zone sort of thing. Was told by doc it's best to stay away from it cause of risk of incontinence. Think it's a nerve thing

Neck

3 weeks after was still orange when I gave sample at docs office. Week later or so was no blood. Hard to tell less you use a urnal

Was up every hour overnight passing scabs and darker blood.  Seems to have tapered off in the last few hours.  Dripping at times after I pee.  I suppose this is all normal 16 days following surgery.

I'm keeping my finger crossed.  I will say a extra prayer for you joe.  Have a good thanksgiving with your family  Ken

Joe I was just thinking.  You said that over the last 2 years you had some problems. What kind  Knowing that the turp had the longest healing time and the most bleeding why didn't you just go for something else.  Maybe something less invasive of any a Holep.  It's just as good but less bleeding.  Is it something you wanted or did the doctor tell you it was the best.  Some doctor like to push one procedure over another.  My doctor will not do a turp unless it's a last resort.  Just curious  Ken

After lots of reading about different procedures it was my doctor in the end that decided TURP was best.  I don't feel bad and never did have much pain.  When I was released from the hospital the dr offered pain meds I turned him down and still would.  Guess it's just a long recovery as I was told.  Thank you for the prayers, Have a great Thanksgiving

My bleeding was all from D+15 to D+21, peaking on D+21, nothing at all from D+22.  It doesn't take much blood to make the pee look rather alarming.  Maybe take some iron tablets to set your mind at rest so your body can make more (I did).  Remember when giving blood you give 1 litre.  I found it worrying, but ultimately I also knew it wasn't that much.

Paul,

Thanks for the info.  I know recovery takes awhile I guess it just looks like allot of blood.  Scabs have been passing along with the blood.  All systems are normal.

End of day eighteen.  Not much change in the last few days.  Still drinking lots of water, some pain and frequent trips to the potty.  Most of the time I see scabs being released with some bleeding.  I don't venture far from home, 30 minutes max so long as there is a rest room close by.  When the urge hits I gotta go or there will be a mess for sure.

Been there. For me it took a while. I remember was still leaking a little after 4 weeks. Little blood to. Then it stopped.

Joe just keep drinking the water.  It's going to take a while  Ken

Day 19, worst day yet.  Passing large clot, scabs and what looks like raw blood.  Just before the clot passed it felt like my penis was stopped up, pain was almost unbearable till it broke loose.  Once the clot and scabs had passed what looked like raw blood followed.  I don't dare leave the comfort of my home today.  I am in hopes that all this is normal and soon will come to an end.

I passed a few large ones. Had to have a Cath inserted to move one. Fresh blood I would call doc about just to be safe. If you blew the scab out you still need, could be bad. Won't hurt to call and ask. Tell them what's up . Rather safe than sorry as some say

If it were normal TURP would have been killed at birth.

I think that you should go to ER as it is no way normal.

I figure his uro would see him right away. He can scope him and look too see what's bleeding. ER may blow him off. Hate the ER. Doc there told me ... The body will heal itself. I was in surgery 4 months later. Almost unable to void at all.

I was asuming a time of day his Uro was not available. In the UK out of hours you can seldom find the consultants. I was given an out of hours number to contact the urology nurse.

Mine has a on call doc if it's after office hours. I have called during office hours and they got me right in. Was actually surprised cause he is always double booked all day. Had to call on call doc once after hours. He didn't sound real happy and wasn't much help.

Got in to see the doc yesterday afternoon.  He took a urine sample and back ti the waiting room.  Stayed till I gave him two more samples, took about an hour.  I could see some small scabs in the sample but not near the blood I had seen earlier.  After what ever he did with the samples he said things looked as would be expected for the time since surgery.  SInce there appears to be a little less blood in the urine today I have not seen any clots but more scabs then before.  I do feel better after seeing the doc.  I can assume healing as expected.
