Soooo Frustrated!!

I have just come off of several days of feeling totally like myself: confident, energetic, optimistic, happy. Now, this morning, the irritability and anger are back again. I am annoyed and agitated, and I hate it. I am trying to go back to the past few days, when I felt perfectly like myself, but I can’t help but feel cheated that this cycle of unpredictable moods just keeps on going. Don’t get me wrong, I am so happy for the positive times that I have just had, but I am also so exhausted from these mood shifts, and I just want them to be over.

I turn 52 later this year, and my periods range from 12 to 101 days, so I figure that I must be getting close to the end of perimenopause.

Any sharing of experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Bev, I could no longer handle the mood swings. I started Lexapro. The first two weeks I dealt with dizziness and some hard morning anxiety but, it is starting to help. The past couple days no crying and I feel within the weeks to come this will lift. I did not want to take meds at all but, I was suffering so bad and had to do something. Everyone is different and the start up is hard and it does take time but, I have hope now that I will come out the other end soon. I tried everything and swore off meds for 6 months after 2 didn’t work but, my symptoms came back worse. It really is trial and error and it really does take time but, it is worth it. Nothing over the counter was helping me and I don’t think any of it does. I needed my serotonin lifted and I know this is tied to my monthly cycle because I feel better each time I have it and this med is starting to regulate it which nothing else was. Which is why I think I’m feeling better. I don’t feel drugged on this med either. It is calming although, again the start up can be difficult. Just a thought because I know how bad it is. Sending you hugs…!!!

I started Lexapro a couple of weeks ago, so I am hoping that it will help. I started at 5mg, and I am now on 10mg. Which dose are you taking?
