Have any of you been really sore around your rectum had burning and
rough patches there? The skin isn't white, more reddish. I've been using A&D ointment but it isn't helping as much as it had been. What other cream or ointment would be good? Thank you
I,use Advantan fatty ointment. I am nearly due at my clinic so will, update after the 20th. I have LS all around the anus but it does not worry me as much as that around the clitoris and down to the opening of the vagina. It is not good and it is the location rather than the actual LS that worries me.
Thank you Kathleen. I will look into Advantan fatty ointment.
carmarie has replied to you groky in a new thread x
sorry to hear about this tenderness
I find any cream with zinc in it helps, try also znic and copper tablets. Steroid cream makes the skin very tender and fragile. It works for me,good luck
Try some coconut oil for moisturising. If you have particularly sore tears or patches I find Manuka HOney directly applied is soothing and healing. I also use the Clobetasol Ointment twice a week for maintenance and if I have a flare up I use it more frequently until it calms down. Epaderm is also a great product to wash and moisturise with. Hope this helps. Good Luck
Also you can soak in a bath containing 1/3 cup bicarbonate of soda or sit on a bowl or sitzath or bidet with 1/2 teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda whenever you need relief.
Thank you. Do you get the Manuka honey from a health food
store? Is epederm sold in the US?
Using the A&D makes sense but it is not good. The A&D seals the skin and does not allow air to help heal. You need to see doctor and get a script for the ointments they recommend. The stuff he gave me does help a Lot. It comes and goes but the ointment always helps me out.
I can't say for sure this will apply to your case, Groky, but I had what you have for a long time. I decided last summer that it must be coffee loosening my bowels and burning the exit area, so I quit coffee. The red, sore are did improve a lot. But when I saw my gynae she looked at the improvements Dermovate was making and she said I still had active LS around my anus. A while leter, using my shaving mirror daily, I noticed the inner folds around the anus were whitish. I realised that had been what she was talking about in the appointment the winter before, not the big red area. So I started restricting my Dermovate application to that small inner area. Not only did the red, sore area completely heal, I've recently started drinking coffee again. It doesn't loosen my bowels at all. Now that my ex has moved out it's becoming clear that stress ('nerves'
was loosening my bowels and burning the exit ramp. I also think it's possible that applying Dermovate to that wider non-LS area was burning the skin there.
thank you for your input.
Thank you Morrell, I will check the area a little better to see where the white is and just try to keep the Clob there. Such a crudey disease.
I agree that coconut oil is really good for everyday moisturising and as a urine barrier. I just started using it recently and like it a lot. It's so cheap compared to the fancy artisanal creams I'd been using. It's basically organic shortening.
Is it the coconut oil that is the solid kind.
its not a cream...but i hope this helps...maybe to reduce inflammation in the bowel tract: i've started making dandelion coffee in a glass cafetierre with warm coconut milk that i make myself inorder to avoid coffee.....although i hear organic 'bullet proof' coffee....made with organic butter blended in in a high speed blender keeps out the allergens that are in the puss filled cows milk of today. just a thought in case you are reacting x
i've discovered this too. its solid at coolish room temps x
Thank you for the suggestions. ;0)
I bought my Manuka Honey from COSTCO but I think you can get it from a variety of sources including some larger supermarkets. I am in UK so I don't know if you can get it in US. It is an emollient wash like Hydramol. You could ask a pharmacist who will be able to research and advise on similar product for you.
Sorry for delay in replying, I was away for Easter
