anyone experience a sore throat with the feeling that you were getting a cold but the cold never materialised? So weird.
HI sharcerv52408
Yes I get these sharp pains in the sides of my neck like an ear infection or sore throats going to happen at anytime but never does. I thought it was something to do with my thyroid but been checked for that and everything's ok there. Its so weird how hormones can make all these things happen !
Yes it is so strange how much our hormones are responsible for.
Hi, yes I too have this, I've always blamed it on the PMR I have and taking steroids for many years, well I seem to learn something every day since stumbled on this forum
Hi, I have this strange cough that doesn't go away and sometimes it feels like something is crawling in my left ear but no cold.
Hi sharcerv.
yes it is happening quite alot lately, this morning I woke up with a sore throat then later on in the morning my throat felt like it was stinging and a few hours later completely gone, too weird
Yes, and then it goes away. I did have an ultrasound done and doc found a growth on my thyroid. Becasue of the size of the growth they tested it for cancer cells but they found none. Reading about this I foudn out that 50% of people over 50 years old have these groths on the thyroid but only 3% are cancerous.
I have also this year had the worst case of sinus issues, not sure if it is related. Twice now I have hd to take antibiotics to clear up an infection above my teeth which has been crazy weird.
Also, I ahve had to watch the type of shampoo and conditioner I use now. A few years back when I was going thru all the urinary tract infections, yeast infections and canker sore issues my scalp started burning and went to doc who said this was an allergic reaction to something I ws using on my hair. Ever since I have had to use non-fragrance hair spray and a cetain shampoo and conditioner. Again, only a probelm since all these other things started happening. To me it is a mystery and I am not sure if it is connected to hormones or not.
I also have had sinus prob since in peri and been getting UTI and yeast infections all of a sudden....Was glad to see your post....also had a big sore on my upper lip that ive never had before either and sore throat on and off like you have....all this is crazy....you just never know what to expect...hugs to all....
Yes all of these symptoms you'd never associate with menopause which is why so many of us panic when we start feeling these things. We think we're all dying of some terrible disease.
I used to come down with fku-like or cold-like symptoms a lot before I would get a period. But it's been years since I felt this way so it felt strange. Some of these symptoms I've had before but they are more intense now and some are new. But they are all still very bothersome.
Yes they are!!!My big thing now is upset tummy and chest is heavy and i sometimes wonder if thats from my sinus draining since i seem to always be draining...and seem to have to clear my throat alot...i wonder if i should ask for a chest x ray just to check lungs since chest is seems so heavy alot...today is a bad day for sinus...cloudy and cold...what happen to summer...where are you from?Im in Central IL
I live in Louisville, KY the worst place for allergies. It really is. They did this study about the worst place to live for allergies and Louisville, KY was ranked #1. Louisville is located in the Ohio River Valley so when the seasons change or when storms come it just stirs all of the elements around and the stuff just settles back down. It never gets carried away. So there are a lot of allergy sufferers here.
I too suffer with tummy trouble from time to time. I get indigestion, usually when i wake up I feel like my food is sitting in my throat or chest. For example, when my period ended this past week, toward the end I had indigestion and constipation. Last night I started feeling the sore throat thing and then I felt sore all over like I was coming down with something. Then today, I felt heaviness in my waist and legs with pain in my upper thigh and groin area. I am so sick of these symptoms!
Hi sharcerv. I see you on the forum occasionally, so I am hoping you will get this. I am wondering if you still have the sore throats. Mine has been bothering me a lot lately. Also pain in my ears, drainage in my throat. Like you describe, it feels like I am starting to get a cold, but this has been going on for weeks now. Just wondering if this is related to all this peri stuff?!!
I Also have the sinus allergy a lot . All seasons . Never had this before until perimenopause .... so strange . And I'm have stomach upset right now as well . I wonder if it's drainage too. But the health anxiety kicks in and I worry and become scared . But I just went to my doctor in October blood work was all good except hormones and vit d . And had annual exam then too . Everything was normal . So I try to look at it like see you are fine .
Hi Renee. Me too. Just had all the tests and my annual and everything is good. But I have to keep reminding myself of that when everything hurts !
Hello wanted to ask you if your throat is still bothering you? Mine has on and of for a year. Thank you
Hi columba. It is better, but yes a lot. Cold stuff makes it feel better. I am going to make an appt with an ent this week. Hopefully it will be allergies or changes from just getting older. Have you been to the doctor about it?
Hi I am just joining this forum, just turned 52 in March and my period stopped right away, but now I have this sore throat which is fine when I wake, but stays with me throughout the day. I was reading up on menopause and found many instances where women experience sort throat as a symptom of menopause. Hopefully it will go away.
Im 50 and noticed swollen lymph node on right side thats been coming and going for 6 month. 4 months ago i developed a severe and recurring sore throat also on right side went to two different docs both said they saw nothing wrong, maybe allergies. Allergy meds did nothing. I asked for ENT referral. ENT scoped, saw nothing unusual and gave zpack just in case. followup visit a few weeks later, barely looking he said it was nothing and he seemed almost annoyed because i came in at the start of covid, said "it could be viral so keep your distance" . He was third doc to say it was nothing to worry about But the pain was bad. it started getting better but now its acting up again Finding this thread is giving me hope that it is hormonal and will eventually pass. (maybe i need to find an older female ENT ) I am so frustrated with the healthcare system, I rarely go to the doc but when I do I wish I had more time with docs who can take the time to figure out what's going on . Unless the condition on the top 5 common conditions, or you're about to die, it doesn't seem to be a problem.
hi yes i also have had a sore throat the past 7 weeks feels like im about to get a cold but it doesnt happen. im 52 and around the same time as a period didnt arrive this throat thing did
It lasted 7 months for me. I finally decided it must be Peri/Menopause related, I stopped thinking about it, started refocusing on other things and told myself it was just something i had to deal with until is subsides. Then finally in November last year it went away. I was thrilled to say the least. Current symptoms i still have are subtile pain in middle of my back about the size of a quarter in area, vivid crazy dreams, ear ache once in a while. and fatigue that comes and goes. But thats about it. We will all get through this, I find strength since finding this group helps so much knowing others are going thru the same thing. Much love to you all and better days are coming!!!
