Curious what you're doing now without your acid reducer. I assume you took it for ulcer or reflux issues. Are you back to having issues from over acid production again? I take Prilosec daily for acid reduction. I was diagnosed a few years ago with a stomach ulcer and esophageal irritation and was told I could potentially be on an acid reducer permanently. I have had the lower left rib soreness described by many on this site for years now. I sometimes take myself off Prilosec for a few weeks to a month but can't say I've noticed a change in the rib ache. I do notice stomach issues creeping back up though and I end up back on Prilosec eventually. Seems I'm only trading one problem for another. Sigh.....
I have experienced some discomfort and am a little
Hello Everyone, I have had this condition for many years. It comes and goes as it pleases. I was DX with Fibromylgia 10 years ago and have assumed it's just part of the package. For me it's worse on the left side for what ever reason I don't know but I do have nerve issues related to the left side of my lower back, is it connected idk. But here is a question one thing that makes mine worse is wearing a bra. It feels like I am being crushed so I have gone to wear 3X stretchy bras so it's not a tight around my ribcage. My pain is actually where my bra going around me. I recently lost my health insurance (USA) and I have been lowering my medication with 2 goals. First, seeing what I really am feeling I've been on some medications so long sometime I wonder if my body has changed and maybe I don't need it or as much. Second, to lower the costs of the medications. So that could be why I am experiencing this pain now. I just elimated Cymbalta and I am lowering my Neurotin each day. Once I am off both I am going to re-evaluate my pain levels and go from there.
When I am feeling this pain I usually can't wait to get my bra off and using a racer bra instead does help. Not sure why. My pain levels were really elevated after I had a gyne procedure at day surgery I believe it was a bad reaction to the anesthetic I was home from work for a week like someone had beat me with a baseball bat. I had a breast reduction 4 months later this is all around 10 years ago but it was after that experience about 6 months later I was DX with Fibro. I needed up on a 50 mg Fenynal patch for years but last November I was able to get off of the patch with the help of prayer. Which by the way I was having dealing with years of UTI's and after I got off the patch my UTI's went away. I believe the meds were slowing down my body's systems which kept me from emptying my bladder fully. So back to the ribs I use a TENS machine and heat to help with the pain. The TENS was covered under my old insurance and I have had it for years you only need to purchase new pads as needed. I have found it helpful and comforting. One thing I like about it too is it's small and if I am in pain but need to go to work or wherever the TENS helps me tolerant the pain while I am out. It clips to your belt or waist band and you can shut it off and on when needed.
Just for another note prior to my DX of Fibromylgia when I kept complaining of pain everywhere the doctor ran an antibody test which came back with a positive ANA meaning to my understanding that there are antibodies in my body attacking my body. At first they thought Lupis but mine is unspecified. So basically for no apparent reason. I hope my story gives you some insight but I am curious about if some of you can relate to the bra issues.

I also have the same symptoms. Mine is on my right side. Lower rib cage and towards side. Several spots or areas that feel bruised. Not large area, but spots about the size of the tip of my finger. I have no idea what this pain is.
Thank you for your post!!!! I had costochondritis for 4 months straight. I ended up in the Er because I thought I was having a heart attack. It was a terrible squeezing wrapping feeling. So painful. That was the start of the really intese fibro issues for me. I wish you well and it helps to know we're all in this together.
I also get this a lot. It is really painful and feels like you have a rib broken or something. After seeing a specialist pain management doctor today he confirmed this was part of the condition where you become "tender" in lost of areas of the body. No cure tho!
Hi Jennet
Are you referring to Fibromyalgia? Xx
Hey, I have been having a pain in my right rib, under my breast (right along my bra line) for months now. It gets worse and then better, seemingly at random, but is always tender and sore to the touch. I've been to the hospital twice and they've checked my lungs, gallbladder, made sure it wasn't broken, etc. It's come with several symptoms of IBS, but the thing that's making me confused and kind of stressing me out is how it hasn't gone away, and it's visibly deformed now. On my left side, my rib cage is visible with the outline of the bottom Ron very defined. On my right side, you can barely see where my rib cage ends. I hate saying it's swollen because it isn't hard, it's just sort of puffy.
Most of my symptoms are exactly like the ones on this thread so I guess I'm wondering if I'm looking in the right areas and if anyone else is having visible differences in their ribs from this.
The first time I want to the doctor that did an xray and said it must be pleurisy. After a month had passed with nothing helping I want back and they checked my gallbladder and did a d dimer to make sure it wasn't a bloodclot. I've never had to see a specialist for anything and I just got on insurance so I'm not sure where to go from here, but this constant pain is making it very difficult to keep up with my kids and work.
I am 27 years old and I've had 2 c sections. Other than that, I've been pretty healthy until this year.
I have the exact same pain! Worse during stressful times. Have you had any diagnosis yet? Im going on 4 years. Had every test in the book.
horrible pain in my rib cage, Only acupuncture helps and vicodin.
big problem with bras. They rub against the ribs. I don't wear underwire bras .
tey make it worse.
I do wear underwire bras. But this pain feels like under rib and constant while sitting. Standing or laying on left side helps. So frustrating! Had tons of tests. Everything is negative.
Yes, my dear,
my pain started at 25 . I am in a very ripe age and the pain is still there.
For 30 years i was doing deep tisue masages. but now they make back pain even worse. In winter pain is more intense, ribs give me pain level 8.
Find a VERY skillful acupuncturist. This is the only help I could find.
my gyne doctor said that underwire cut off blood circulation. It potentially leads to breast cancer. I STOPPED wearing underwired bras although no wire gives poor shape. Also you don't know how the metal affects rib cage. it might be not directly but indirectly.
If you ever figure out why this is, please let us know. I have very similar symptoms (although sometimes mine also feels badly more along my side and back as well). I had a clear ultrasound and am waiting on blood test results.
I have the same thing going on since June of 2016. I've had all sorts of tests done and now they are going to try physical therapy. I'm praying this helps...
Let me know if you find anything else that helps.
I've had pain in my ribs for years. It's a very sharp pain. My acupuncturist put very short needles in my entire rib cage. Then he bent them slightly to cover with tapes. The needles stayed there for the entire week. Pain disappeared
That's amazing!! Was it painful to have them in your ribs for the week? How long ago did you have it done?
Hi I get painful areas mainly on my ribs, really sore to the touch and seems to change on a weekly basis where it's sore. One week is the bottom left rib and then middle right rib etc. Usually have between 5 to 10 sore spots over my ribs. Doctors haven't really came up with anything and ibhave had lots of scans and blood tests. I guess it might be fibro, but hard to know for sure :0 (
