Has anyone been on Sotalol HCL 80 mg for svt? I am interested how you did on it, and if any side affects were experienced
I was on it for over 20 years. I think it was 80 mg twice a day. I don’t remember any side effects. Was changed to Bisoprolol about 4 years ago when I asked for a check up with the cardiologist. I still had odd, usually short lived, incidents on the Sotalol and still get very brief incidents now. My GP said Sotalol was considered a “dirty” drug hence the change. I think he meant it had other unnecessary fillers but you could ask your cardiologist. I think I preferred the Sotalol but I can’t really explain why. A lot of people complain about Bisoprolol side effects and I know I felt odd when first taking them - now I just feel a bit dopey but I do take antidepressants as well and the two don’t really mix well. Good luck.
Thank you Linda for your reply.
Four years ago I was on biso. OMG, I felt awful. I took it for about 3 months when I had to stop it to have an attempted ablation. I told my EP that I would rather have tachy than feel the way I did.
I could not get off the sofa. My hands and feet were freezing. My heart rate was low. I just could not exist feeling so fatigued.
So I never went back on.
Lately my episodes are way more often. So I went on Tiazac. Still feel like garbage. Even lower resting heart rate, and many many other side effects, including even more episodes
Yesterday he changed it to Sotalol which I think is a beta blocker.
I haven’t started it yet.
I just hate taking this stuff. Kinda anxious changing again
Again thank for your reply
