Sour Taste Back of Last Molar

It has been over one year since I went to the dentist with an infection.  After the infection was controlled, the dentist proceeded to do a root canal.  Dentist ended up removing molar because of a sour taste that would never go away.  Sour/metal (?) taste continued, dentist thought that it was because the molar adjecent to the want removed also needed a root canal.  The root canal was not successful, the taste continued, there were a few visits to the dentist before completing the root canal.  It was never completed because the taste was there.  I gave permission to dentist to remove this second molar also.  The taste continued.  The dentist told me that taste should dissapear after  a while.  Well, it did not disappeared.

I went to a second, third, fourth dentist. No one could see anything wrong.

Fifth dentist was an oral surgeon, he found some sort of infection, not on the molar but above it.  He performed surgery, removed a tiny piece of thooth that was there.  Procedure went well, surgery healed quickly.  The sour taste continued.  Went back to oral surgeon for two visits, he said to give it some time that the taste should dissapear.

Two months after sugery, taste continues.  I went to see a Maxifacial specialist.  This doctor did a through examination and found nothing wrong.   She consulted with two other specialists.  No one could see anything, except that my now last molar had an old crown.  Nothing wrong with the crown but there is where I feel my sour taste to come from.  One of the two other specialist agreed to remove the old crown and replace with a new crown ( just for my own piece of mind).  The old crown is now removed, I have a temporary filling until my next visit, time for the permanent crown.  My concern:  my sour taste continues.

Has anyone outthere been through anything like this? Need advice.

I have this exact same issue.  Did you ever find out what it is?  I don't want to have anymore teeth pulled.  Thanks.

I have a similar issue. Did you ever get a resolution?
