I did too- very inpleas not and made sleeping even harder! A physio friend suggested I tried talking NH zinc supplements- it mysteriously stopped at 6 weeks! It does go☺️

I was getting spasms too in the non op leg. Therapist suggested applying heat and alternate with ice....it helped a LOT!! I would not use any heat on the op leg.

hi madla,

Spasms and cramps are normal, darling , and part of the healing process ..

These spasms will go away. If they are particularly troublesome, you can ask your doctor for  a muscle relaxant medicine.

if you think you are overdoing your exercises, try to do less and see if it makes a difference ...

Drinking tonic water helped me -

Nope madla perfectly normal .. I have them all the time all over the place and just assume it's everything settling down and getting back together . Sometimes they sort of burn and shoot down your leg . All weird and wonderful little niggles just accept its all healing together hence the twinges you will be fine xx

I had a gluteus medius repair surgery a week ago, and while they were in there, the doctors checked my prostheses from previous THR. This time I had a number of those painful muscle spasms in my thigh and I did NOT have them before for the THR. I think I overdid things for a couple of days, more in-hospital PT and then a transition to a rehab facility, where I am now. They had me start on a dose of diazepam, a muscle relaxant, and I am taking that 4 times a day. Also doing less activity, and I have had fewer spasms, and none today.

The med can help a lot, as well as taking it easier. Hope you can get relief, Madla!

Thank u for advice. I will make appointment with my gp and ask for that. Spasma wake me up during the night even my sleep is not really good. I may also do to much excecise. Today I

have bed day hip really hurt. Quick recovery

Great news! I still have the occasional spasm, even though I am taking the muscle relaxant. It is also very important to not overdo things on that surgical leg!
