Hi guys my friend was involved in a car accident in December 2018 she suffered a spinal cord injury. She's recovering very well because she is able to walk again and sit without back support. The problem is she has no control over her bowels. She's also doing physio. I just want to ask if there's a chance of her regaining control over her bowel movements, what is the probability and how long does it usually take?
Her doctor should l have given her a prognosis for her bowel problems and should have explained the time it will take for possible improvements. Everyone is different with recovery; there is no one size fits all timescale. However, if she has not been given any advice on this, she will need to ask her doctor. Only a medical professional will be able to give her accurate answers.
