I'm sure I'm having a mental breakdown- I have panic attacks all the time and havnt slept in days. I've been pushing on trying to go to work but I can't concerntrate on a thing and I'm falling massively behind. I just can't sit still. It's spiralling out of control. Ive been prescribed anti anxiety drugs by the doctor but they take weeks to start working. I don't know what to do in the meantime. My worries are health related - a very stupid mistake iv made recently which has affected my health. I can't get these things out of my head and I feel like I'm falling apart. How do I get out of this spiral?
Hi hun i had a break down last year ended up in a mental health hospital because of it i really hope it doesn't get to that point for you it's really not a nice thing to go through try some kalms they might help until the other tablets kick in they do night 1s too to help with sleep i really feel for you hope you feel better soon darling xx
In my opinion it is an axiety-related disorder that will need medical intervention before you start to feel well again.
For this reason I would advise you to see your doctor and repeat everything you have said here.
If it is and consolation to you, please be assured that you are are far from alone, as this type of illness is very much on the increase in our population.
I meant 'anxiety-related'.
Feel for you Melanie ...others on here will too...
I had a nervous breakdown approx 12yrs ago ..and I too felt myself spiralling down. Ended with me in psychiatric ward BUT this is not the case for everyone ..especially if they can take little ( and I mean LITTLE) positive steps to help themselves.
Its only my humble suggestion, but give some thought to the following.
Assemble a support network around you (GP, close trusted friend/family member, work manager etc)...log events each day as best you can. Follow advice of doctor, keep your mind on ANYTHING positive, TRY to eat and drink water little but often, use medatitave sleep inducing music to aid sleep. You've done 1 positive thing by positing on here so well done. Draw some little comfort from the knowledge you are not alone ...many people on hrrevare struggling one way or the other.
Be kind to Melanie!
Much peace ...hope you feel better soon..
Thank you so much for your responses Kelly and Kyle, it's nice to know I'm not the only one out there. It's such a frightening experience. Arcemedes I have seen my GP and been prescribed anti anxiety medication but these take a while to work. I also have sleeping tablets for the short term but they are not something I want to get into a habit of relying on. I try not to take them often but literally just do not sleep no matter what else I try. I know I need to fix the issue I'm worrying about but I have no idea how to go about it, it's quite complex and difficult to talk about. In the meantime I'm losing everything
I thought ide lost everything love and feel like am going to again if i don't get better I've recently been put on amitriptyline you take 1 at night and I've slept brill on them they help with a few things too not just anxiety am not saying they will work for you but I've looked online and I've seen a lot of comments off people saying they feel they they've got there life back ect maybe try them x
Hi Melanie! Poor you! Have you tried rescue remedy? Also how about reflexology? This is also very good for anxiety and stress! What about aromatherapy? Lavender oil is the best! Put a few drops on your pillow!this will help! Go and have a good talk to your health food shop! I am on propranalol beta blockers 80 mg x a day! Good luck! Regards Amanda
