spoke too soon

HI

Have been taking 20mg of Cit for two weeks now, take it just before I got to bed, had thought I had managed to avoid the side effects, though I have been feeling sick in the morning it has passed, that was until yesterday, when I felt sick pretty much for most of the day, tried to drink water and didn't really eat anything.  Have woken up this morning feeling the same, I know it is one of the side effects to this medication, so I am going to ride it out, and hopefully it will pass soon.

Back to the doctors this afternoon, so will let her know etc

Daisy

I'm on Cit 10mg for a week half nw going to up it tomorrow to 20mg other than dizzy no appetite an struggle to fall asleep I do hav times I feel very anxious then I take Azor just till Cit kicks in.... as per pharmacist....everyone including my daughter who was on it for a year and has just come off it says giv it 3-4 weeks ..... so I'm hanging in there....

Hi Daisy, I've been on and off Cit for the last 7 years. For me, it's a great drug, that makes me feel like me again. However, you really need to give it a couple of months to really settle in and be fully effective, as with any drug of this nature. Don't be disheartened, remember these horrible feelings are just physiological symptoms of anxiety and can do you no harm. You have my complete sympathy, I used to feel sick in the mornings too, and be gagging and retching over the loo, couldn't eat, felt shaky, had hot and cold flushes...ugh! It will pass, and you will feel better.

Hi,

I'm on 10mg of Cit been on them for about 4 weeks now, I take mine with breakfast in the morning. I too have felt really sick for days but now it is wearing off and only feel it occasionally. Hope this helps good luck. Hang in in there. x

Thanks I don't feel to bad just this anxiety feeling I get after a few hours of taking it... I hate that... so I'm nervous to increase to 20mg just nw that feeling gets worse.... everyone says 2 to 3 weeks so must just hang in there.....

Hi Daisydoo69

I am also on week 3 now of taking 20mg of Cit, i take mine in the evening with a small snack before as it irritates my stomach so this helps for me.

I dont feel sick so long as i eat before, it makes me tired so that is why i take it at night. helps me with sleeping too.

Are you taking it on a empty stomach?

take care

Hi Dawn

Yes I have been taking it on an empty stomach, will try taking it tonight with something to eat and will see how that makes me feel tomorrow. Have had a yoghurt and a sandwich to eat today, alot more than yesterday, but am still feeling sick, but will persevere

Daisy

Hi Daisy,

Try a ginger biscuit that is good for feeling sick, try something little with the cit i find it easier that way.

I too find it hard to eat some days then i am constantly eating on others - no win there for me!

One day at a time and you will get there.

take care

i took citalopram 20 mg for two weeks and my anxiety and panic attacks were awful . Went to the doctor and she gave me buspirone 7.5 to help cita to work faster and it did I still feel anxious bt I can control that I'm eating better and I'm also taking some vitamin b12 .. I feel better I went back to work and that helps too ... I feel kind of nervous every morning bt I have to control that , now I'm able to control my anxiety and not let my anxiety control me ! Good luck to you !!!

Hi there, I'm exactly the same. I take just 10mg and feel sick on this, eating nothing.  I was thinking of taking 5 mg at night and 5 mg in the morning to split it. Not sure if that will help with the side affects as last night I suffered bad insomnia and panic attacks.  From people I've spoken to, the sickness does subside.  We are nearly there, so stick with it. I've heard 4 weeks makes a huge difference, so we are half way there. Like swimming half way across the channel, its as far back as forwards x

Anyone else getting palpitation for it.... I'm 2 weeks in an having them now only....

Yes, I'm week 2 also.  I am sitting here now, seemingly relaxing, reading on the net...on the sofa and my heart is racing. I feel like if I ran now, I would need to sprint flat out, although I've no drive to do that lol.  My heart is beating like in panic mode for no reason. I almost feel out of breath.  Keep strong, it's a normal side affect I guess. You're not alone on this Michelle x

Ok good to know we nt alone I honestly going to stop it if this carries on..... I just had hormonal anxiety now I'm anxious all the time it's horrible.....

I'm exactly the same. I went to have my hormone levels checked as I'm menopause age and felt my anxiety was still linked to monthly cycles, but not nice for my boyfriend to keep living through. It was threatening the relationship. My monthly crazies, now I feel like a crazed junkie! I've heard so many people say that it has changed their life, and the first month is the worst. Stick with it. To me it's like swimming across a river, not point turning to swim back if your half way across. Just know it's the medicine and your brain chemistry adjusting for a better long term balance.  I'm with you ! Xx
