Chris, it would seem very strange that these appear and disappear in the way that they do. They do not coincide with sexual activity just prior to them appearing, anything like that?
The best person to help you get to the bottom of this is a Dermatologist - if you can access health specialists of your choice try to find a Dermatologist the specialises in Genital Skin Conditions. It may eventually turn out that this is linked to something like eczema or psoriasis - in which case there may be something triggering an autoimmune response at the times these occur. This can be linked to particular foods, processed sugar, diary foods and suchlike. You may want to look at diets for autoimmune conditions.
If I have it right, any steroid application used on the genitals should be an ointment, rather than a cream. Check which you have: ointments are clear, cream is white. What I would suggest when you use the Betnovate again is DO NOT apply anything else to the penis at the same time. Simply wash the penis with water only, when you take a shower try to keep other body cleansers such as soap and shower gels away from the penis. When you have finished washing the rest of your body in the shower take some time to rinse away any cleansers that may have gotten onto the penis - make sure you carefully dry the infected area so that no moisture remains. You need to do this with a clean dry towel that only you use.
Thanks for detailed reply. No, they don’t occur following sexual activity and I haven’t identified any other cause or dietary change, laundry detergent change, shower products etc. I shall try water wash only and seek a specialist dermatologist.
