hello , i have noticed some spots on the underside of my penis the last couple of months and not sure what they are..they have not given me any problems in terms of pain itching of anything, i have only noticed a weird sensation in the penis when i am overly obsessing about what they are , if i am not thinking of them i have no feelings in my penis at all , if i hadnt of obssessed i dont think i would have noticed them at all as they are very small ! they are slightly red at times and not sure if they have grown or or spread but it is giving me major anxiety just knowing they are there but not what they are !bit of a back story is that i possibly had unprotected sex 4-5 months ago , the reason i say possible is i was very intoxicated and can not remember it much. after said event i became very paranoid that i could have caught something and became obsessive over checking my penis. i found the spots on the underside of my penis and schedule a dr appointment 3 weeks after contact . i was tested via blood and urine for sti and all came back negative , i also had 2 visual assesments and was told the spots were normal but wasnt overly convinced..i had the spots swabbed also and it came back negative to hsv and another sti i cannot remember the name of , is there a chance that it could be papules, fordyce or traumatic neuroma from circumsion or is it hpv ? would love some insight into what these might be, thanks in advance !
3 weeks was not long enough. It might just be a skin tag, worst case scenario HPV. Have a full STD screen and blood work done again. The doctor should be able to look at it and give you something to go off of until you get your results. Good luck!
thanks for replying , i had read online that 7-14 days after was long enough for tests to be reliable. do you think it is 100% necessary to do a full screening again ? i have seen 2 doctors recently to look at it and they both said it was normal but i do want to get another opinion. i am thinking worst case scenario hpv also. may i ask are you in the medical field ?
No, I’m not in the medical field but you should wait 3 months minimum before getting tested for any virus… Any test done before then could be inaccurate. I would do 3 months and again at 6 months to be 100% sure. The docs who looked at it are probably right but I would get tested again since you don’t remember if they were always there, you didn’t wait three months and just to be sure. That will give you piece of mind too.
Edit: I just learned HPV has an unknow window period and herpes can take up to 4 months. Well, you’re at almost at 6 months. You’re most likely fine if everything comes back negative after 6 months.
Edit: Sorry, that’s where i got three months from. HIV takes 3 months to show up.
