Spotting and worried

I am a bit worried 47 in perimenopause and every 2 weeks i am spotting i spoke to the GP and she was not worried as i had a hysterscopy in May 2017 and put it down to perimenopause. i am suffering badly low self esteem i have put on 3 stone in weight over the last 6 years and just cannot get in the mindset. My mum told me the other day she had never seen me so big :( My health anxiety is out the window, i havent had a proper period in about 4 months just this light spotting that really doesnt come down. just anxious because my friend is dying only diagnosed 5 weeks ago with pancreatic and liver cancer so it has really friightened me. She had IVF like me and a lot of people have suggested that IVF could be linked to cancer i have spoken to our doctor and there is no evidence to suggest that. please could someone reassure me on the spotting please xxxxx

I began spotting in between my periods when I ovulated about six or seven months ago. At first it freaked me out. Now I realize it’s just part of perimenopause. I am 47.

Have your Dr do a Abdominal.or Transvaginal ultrasound to see if everything is ok just to set your mind at ease. But it sounds pretty normal since your in perimenopause. It does awful things tp your body and gives you added anxiety…BUT Dont worry your going to be ok. God bless.

Hi Ellie, I am awfully sorry to hear about your friend. Pancreatic and liver cancers are very aggressive once symptoms show it is often too late. I know it is wearing on your mind. I know someone who is stage 4 breast cancer…she is in her early 30s…2 babies, just terrible.
Spotting in peri is completely normal, just as skipping periods. You are putting weight on…if you had cancer, you would be dropping weight. If you are concerned about it, then get checked to calm your mind. My mom saw me 3 months ago and was shocked too…except, I dropped 15 lbs…I am tiny, so I looked weak and sickly. thankfully, I put most of it back on…good thing because she is coming in a couple of weeks. Take good care!
