I sprained my ankle three years ago and torn my ligaments.I had to two arthroplasty surgery with then a year and a half. I have a lot of arthritis and stiffness and swelling every day. I am doing physical therapy once a week and some exercises at home every day. I also ice my ankle and elevate it every night and I still have so much pain. I can't take it no more I been dealing with this so long now. Especially the swelling everyday. Is that normal! What should I do next?
What does physio say? Maybe you need to try another one. I've not not got the same, but am 10 months post snapped Fibula, dislocation of ankle and sprained ligaments and tendons. I know what pain is like.
There are supplements that can help I believe. You need another Drs opinion as well, and more Xrays.. That doesn't sound right.
After Drs Check and Xrays , weigh up you options.
If possible keep up mobility. Use or lose it.
I'm expecting some lovely people on here will have some helpful caring comments.
Take care.

Hi there, it seems at this point you're getting tired of dealing with the very long recovery process and can be really stressfull dealing with this every day. Alternative treatmemts i would recommend would be pouring hot water in a bucket to a bearable point with salt and switching in to a bucket of cold water and ice every 5 mintutes untill a total of 20 min to deal with the pain, redness, and swelling. Another change that can play a HUGE role in the recovery process is your diet. Try to consume more milk, fruits, and vegtables regularly as they contain LOTS of vitamins that are very benificial for bone repair. This might sound crazy or the last thing on your mind but depending on your perspective or who you are, if you are open to different things i would HIGHLY recommend cannibis topicals(lotion/cream) for your ankle. They’re NON-PSYCHOACTIVE and do NOT have any affects on you and do NOT produce cerebral euphoria. They can deliver therapeutic benefits that are absorbed through the skin for localized relief of pain, soreness, and inflammation and are much better than other creams such as icy hot and isnt as bad as it sounds. I extremely recommend doing a bit of research on it yourself to see how it can help you.
I want some cannabis topical! Never heard of such a thing. I don't want to keep taking ibuprofen, and as you know, many professions say no to too much ibuprofin. My doctors gave me some topical ointment, but it's messy and stings a bit. Wonder if she would prescribe what you suggest.
