During the course of having depression and anxiety disorders over the several past years my doctor has tried several different anti - depressants to go along with my Diazpam. We are trying to cut down on the Diazpam and allow the anti - depressant to work for both depression and anxiety.
Among the medications that we have tried are: Cymblata (Got very weird dreams from it), Bursar (Did nohing!), Effexor (Very little effect), and Zoloft (awful side effects including headache, stomachacke, nausea and sore throat/dry mouth. I also had ful like symptoms which went away once I took myself off this medication. I was out of commission for two weeks).
My doctor has just switched me to Paxil and have started to develop a sore throat again it seems. Has anybody else had this experience with SSRIs in general? If so, what have you done? I need an antidepressant what works and will allow me to do what I need to do in life.
hi alan, have you tried prozac? ive tried lots of drugs but only had partial effects prozac works best for me im also on quetiapine
Thanks Glenn 43471,
No I haven't tried Prozac. If the sore throat, continues I will speak to my doctor about it. It seems that something happens with me on SSRIs.
I've tried citalapram which didn't work at all for me, mitazapine which made me put on loads of weight, sertraline which as with u have me horrible side effects, and now I am on Venlafaxine which I've only been on just under a week but not had as bad side effects as before.
Hi Holly. I have been on Venlafaxine for many years. It doesn't seem to work for me anymore but the withdrawal symptoms of coming off it can be pretty awful. So, just a heads up if you've just started. You might want to look at the many posts on this forum of people trying to get off it. My doctor tells me it is a very old anti-depressant and there are much better one's around now.
So u wouldn't recommend being on venlafaxine then? I've got a bad headache today but not sure if it's the tablets or sleeping too much. These side effects are much better than what I was on before.
