Why didn't you ask him to explain,he's the one with the answer?
Hi there I will try and give a better reply than the previous unhelpful one. T3b means the cancer has spread to the seminal vesicles which are just outside the prostate. N1 means it is in the lymph nodes.

Exactly right Kieabs... I would only add the the lymph nodes invaded are regional (close to the prostate)
Hi Kieabs/Winn .Thanks.2 helpful replies out of 3! Winns points out nodes close to prostate--does N1a mean other nodes are not affected. Washie
Winn. Just sent a question to Kieabs.Have a look you may have the answer. Washie
Yes... N 1 means the nodes invaded are regional
Great! That's a relief. It looks as if I am going Hormone/Rad route .Have just started on Cyproterone Acetate. You sound like a clued up guy so any thoughts on type of Rad.and drugs would help me on my journey. Thanks again. Washie
Hi washie
I can't really comment as I had surgery followed by RT. What I would say is have a discussion with them about the RT ie are they going to target the nodes as well as the prostate
Good luck
Thanks. I'll keep community updated as I go. Washie
Hi,
Others have answered the staging question. If you have radiotherapy it will include the prostate, seminal vesicles and nodes in the treatment fields.
Hi Washie
Prostate Cancer Staging listed well on Wikepedia, McMillan, and Prostate Cancer websites.
Thanks ----leeniepie. washie
It is always disconcerting that we often come away from consultations with more questions than we had at the start of the appointment. Sometimes a good idea to write down any questions you want to ask, and write down any opinions given during the consultation. Always remember you can ask for printout of your records.
As we are all stressed under these circumstances, it is often difficult to take everything in.
I think your very bad mannered and arrogant. I was as entitled to say my oppinion as you. If you need to use arrogance to make a point your a very sad person.
The consultant did not really spend a lot of time going into figures and stats..I also could not understand him that well, which did not help things .My wife was there taking notes. My specialist nurse was also present . I get on really well with her and can get the fine detail anytime . I learned most of what I wanted for now.Am going back next week to nurse and will get copies of everything.Waiting for appt with oncologist, hopefully next week. Thanks for your wise words ,it's better to be sure than sorry. Washie
But your opinion was unhelpful. I belive he was asking if anyone on here knew what It meant. Isnt that the point of this forum.
If you didn't know there was no point in replying. I wasn't being offensive.
I get your point about "he was asking if anyone knew on here".
But you also say isn't that the point of this forum yes it is for people to give an oppinion, and my oppinion was, perhaps you should start with the Dr who give you that prognosis .
If you had a better answer I don't think it's nessasary to be rude to anyone else.
I just asked a direct question, and if that offended Washie, then it was up to him to say so,not yours.
Washie,If I offended you by asking you ,why you never asked the Dr the questions first, then I wish you would have said so,instead of saying
"good 2good answers out of 3".
Then going on Dales thread to ask me about my hubby's treatment ???
I was't offended and I agree with Keiabs. If you don't want to respond then do not bother.
Washie.
