Could you go up a flight of stairs when you came home from the hospital after a rectocele repair?

I am trying to get everything ready for my surgery and I'm not sure if I should get my husband to set up a mattress downstairs or if walking up the stairs will be fine.   I am expecting to spend one night in the hospital.

Hi Dorry. Of course you can go upstairs. You'll be a bit slow and probably uncomfortable but no need for the stairlift just yet 😘

hi my bathroom n bedroom are upstairs , i managed no bother but i had a cystocele repair not rectocele so cant really say xx

Great, thank you.  I just wasn't sure if I would be too sore for the first few days.  My husband will be glad to know that no furniture moving is required

I had an anterior , posterior repair and Perineum repair, got upstairs no problem xxx

Hi Dorry. I had posterior repair surgery 6 days ago and have been fine going up and down stairs.

They let me walk up the stairs slowly, I wasn't allowed to run. Seriously? Run? I did sleep downstairs the first 4-5 days then moved up. I had no issues at all. I did make my way upstairs on day 3. I was lucky, I had a hysterectomy, vaginally Suspension and rectocele surgery. With the exception of some tummy tenderness from the robotic hysterectomy I had no pain except for cramps on day 2. I tool one pain pill overall. Stool softeners twice a day too! I'm 4 mos postop and feel great. Good luck to you!

Sounds like it was fine for everyone and it is a non-issue.  I hope your recovery goes well, jo jo

Ha ha I'd love a stairlift to get me up the stairs and throw me into bed and pull up the covers,just like on the Wallace and Grommit film :D

I hope my recovery is like that, too.  I'm hoping for the best, but preparing for it to be tough.  My youngest is a toddler which makes things a bit tricky.  Just trying to get ready

I have 11 & 3 year old boys. My advice prepare the toddler as best you can by getting used to not picking them up. It hurts but they learn quickly and will make your life after a little easier. Good luck

I have back pain issues so I don't pick him up for the most part already -- only if something happened and it's necessary.  Very rare.

Now if he wants me get down on the ground and he sits on my knee.  Not sure that will be an option, though, post-op.  Snuggling on the couch seems a better idea.

I have a 9 month old , thankfully my parents have her all day n hubby picks her up at 5.30 , think this is hardest part for me , not used to being away from my kids lol , luckily she now lifts herself up so I can sit n lift her on my knee , I use a cushion to sit on the floor beside her when she not settling as this saves me lifting her xx
