I had IHD in the year 1977. Since then I am taking Atenlol in some form. from 2006 i am taking Stamlobeta 50 mg, since my doctor combined the two drugs stamlo and atenlol into one. My BP is always below 120/80. Recently one of my doctor brother said, he is not sure but asked me to verify whether stamlobeta looses its strength over a period of 8 years and whether i can discontinue stamlobeta 50 mg and start taking RAMIPRIL 2.5 MG.
Can i do this , or will there be any harm, if i stop taking stamlobeta and start taking RAmipril 2.5 mg. ofcourse i did not have any problem with my heart during these 40 years.
Hi vedanth, I will give you a warning regarding Ramirpil, one side effect, is a cough. I take different drugs from you. I take Bisoprolol 10mgs and my GP added in Ramipril, I forget the dosage but after a couple of months, I developed a cough. It didn't occur to me that it was the Ramipril causing it but apparently, it is a known side effect. Another GP prescribed Bendroflumethiazide 2.5mg instead and, in fact, my blood pressure has been more stable with this regime than with the Bisoprolol and Ramipril.
I use this interactions checker. I find it invaluable

I also developed a nasty cough too with Ramipril 2.5. Then I was changed to Losartan 50mg which is the equivalent dose and all was well. Have been on that almost a year.
My BP has been stable since I have been on the Bisoprolol and Bendroflumethiazide, which it never was with the Ramipril. I think I have been on this mix for about 18 months now
