hi i,m new to this group i,m 2 weeks post op and am having my staples out next week .i have read some of your posts saying it is quite painful so am getting a bit worried now.has everyone found it painful???
Congratulations Heather on getting to this point after your surgery. I did not find it that painful at all compared to the awful pain I had prior. Each week is better and better. By week 3, I was driving and going to the store, but do not live in the UK, was even given the ok to swim. Waited till the 4th week to swim. Now swimming most days at week 10, feel totally normal. Not taking any medication. Am walking well without any devices since week 3. At 6 weeks drove myself to my follow-up appt. Dr very pleased with how all turned out. So again, hopefully you will see weekly/daily improvements and feel encouraged. I am eternally grateful for how things have turned out so far and returning to many activities I could not do before. Let us know how you are progressing and be patient with the process, it does take time and effort to do the exercises, etc. However, the reward is sweet!
Morning Heather, there was a mix up at my GP surgery and my staples did not come out untill day 18, so about 3 took a bit of getting out and yes they were a bit sore but not what I would call painful, and as for the rest of them I can truly say I never felt a thing, Please dont worry, they are out before you know it.

I too was worried about staple removal,, it was not nearly as awful as I expected. Most I did not feel at all , only a couple of them pinched even though I wore a t shirt with a large crab on it that said "no pinching allowed"
Hiya, greetings fellow hippie
I had mine (26 of them ) removed two weeks post op at my home. I was also apprehensive about their removal so when the moment arrived, ensured I had a mug of tea at hand. Needn't have worried. Stood up when they were removed and all I felt for a couple of them a very minor sting sensation but all others a very very gentle pull. It was very comfortable and before I knew it was all over with no pain afterwards. You will be fine.
its good to hear its not terrible,i will make my appointment on monday and get it over with.i,ll make sure i take some painkillers before though ....i always expect the worse
Hi Heather. No I didn't find the staple removal painful at all. They came out easy. Don't worry.
I did not find it painful just a little sensation, my district nurse took them out in 2 stages ,alternate ones just because of the number of staples
Don't worry xx
I had 26 , no pain at all just a little sting on one or two , think it has a lot to do with the nurse .
good luck
Morning
I had 32 removed without a hitch. The odd one you feel the tiniest of pinches but nothing more.
Really nothing to worry about.
Good luck with your recovery
Paul
Hi Heather
Welcome to our group....
I didn't have staples but a dressing with glue strips....The best bit was the district nurse removing them then saying I could have showers...which after 10 days was bliss.
Have a nice waRm spring day

Hello and welcome to the hippie bunch.
I was worried but it was fine. A little sting here and there but nothing at all to worry about. I was more worried about the wound afterwards having nothing to support it so to speak but again, nothing to worry about.
i think we are all our own worst enemy sometimes and our imagination puts terror into what really isn't scary at all.
Good luck with the removal. You'll be fine 😊
Hi Heather, I had 30 staples removed and they are just like pin pricks, so not too bad, it may depend on the individual or even the nurse how painful it is.
good luck Valerie
hi heather i was worried like you so i put my ipod on high and just zoned out took a pain killer an hour before hand but just felt stingy and then the tightness seemed to stop and felt so much better
jenn
The first one nipped a bit but after that no bother. You'll be fine x
Welcome heather!
i agree with everyone here, just a little pinch....some I did feel the nurse take out at all! My biggest surprise was how tiny the staples were! Good luck!
