Staples out Tomorrow

Don't really know why I'm excited about this! Lol. Not sure if it will make sleeping on my back any more comfortable. You miss the simple things like rolling on to your side. Pain update- not bad just an Aching feeling, Bruising has worked its way down to my Calf but doesn't seem to causing any harm. I can't stand the DVT Socks 😡 I have been told they are on for 5 weeks!!! Seriously 😒. I have started to get a bit of pain in the groin area in a similar place to where my Hip pain use to be... I am being sensible and assuming it is muscle tightening. Oh well that's my witter for today Happy Hipping!!

I didn't have staples. Just glue!

Sounds like you are doing very well there.

I know that sleeping on your back and DVT socks are a pain, but it's all there for a very good reason.

I worked it out that sleeping on your back helps the bones heal into the metalwork in your leg in the correct (straight) position.   DVT socks are part of keeping you alive and free from DVT.

At least youshould have only one round of these uncomfortable things to endure, I had to go through them all again just a few weeks later when they discovered that they had put my new joint in wonky!

Hope the bruising goes soon.

Woohoo. The day the staples were removed. Progress little by little. Now I sleep on operated side

Really, I thought I was doomed to sleep on my back forever

Good luck with your staples tomorrow! I had dissolvable stitches and glue. I remember the rubbish nights, once you get back on your side it should all improve, although I found I often ended up on my back again. After week 1, I was told to just have the socks on at night (because I had developed big swollen knees!), got rid of the socks completely after a month. All the best, Judith
