Feel great! Day 13 and staples out. Apparently wound looks good, still looks a bit Frankenstein to me lol but I'm glad all is well.
Popped to shops and did the 0.7 miles in half an hour, 10 minutes quicker than last week. I think I could manage with 1 stick but wasn't sure if it's better to stick with two until stronger, although I do tend to walk round kitchen and bathroom with no sticks, well perhaps more of a waddle than a walk.
So cooking a nice Thai chicken curry for tea, normality slowly returning.
Karen there is areal theme coming to this forum that people want to really push on as fast as possible. I certainly did. Giving up crutches, sticks, were real milestones But once you give up crutches you will put weight on a stick and then muscles you haven't used for a while , thighs, calves, other hip, lower back will start to complain. Re build your hip muscles slowly. They have been cut. They take time to heal ,don't rush. Listen to your physio. At 8 weeks I drove to my physio spot and walked without a stick from car to hospital. Just about where she expected me to be.
last week , on holiday in Cornwall I am using one walking pole when walking round towns, down to beaches etc and slowly rebuilding muscles. Still did too much. Lots of muscles aching.
Cheers Dave. It does feel good to be moving forwards but I know I need to be careful. I don't see physio until 22nd July and until then I only intend to do the exercises given at hospital and a short walk each day.
I've been on forum a while and hope I'm prepared for the aches to come once I up the mileage and physio. Just taking the good times for now while trying not to go too quickly. I really can't afford to dislocate it, 2 young kids and a camping trip to Cornwall in August to be well for.
Good for you Karen, same for me yesterday too. I have dropped the stick but did walk on a slight incline at the hospital and am feeling it this morning!!
