My first day i came on this site to look up more about sertraline, and i was a bit worried about taking them. however my side effects have only been small up to now. First day of taking the tablet it was around 11, i dident feel any difference till i woke up in the morning, ( day 2) and my jaw felt like it was vibrating, this started to anoy me so i chewed chewing gum and sucked a lolly which helpt take my mind of it. i also started feeling lazy and sick , as it came to the second night i found i couldnt go to sleep as quick as i use to, This is my third day now i woke up fine, and took my tablet few hours went by started getting head achs and feeling a bit not with it jaw isent as bad today and sickness still not gone im hoping it starts picking up for me ( which i know it will soon).
Has anybody got any soloutions to help with any side effects?? Thanks.
TO BE QUITE HONEST IT'S SOMETHING THAT GETS LESS THE MORE YOU TAKE THE MEDICINE. I HAVE BEEN ON SERTRALINE FOR 10 MONTHS AND AT FIRST I HAD AWFUL SIDE EFFECTS,THE WORST OF THEM WORE OFF AFTER 5/6 DAYS BUT I HAD DIZZYNESS AND LIGHT HEADED FEELING FOR A FEW WEEKS. MY G.P. ADVISED ME TO EAT SOMETHING WHEN I FELT SICK AND THAT DID USE TO SETTLE THE SICKNESS DOWN. STICK WITH IT FOR A FEW WEEKS AND THEN SEE HOW YOU FEEL. I HAVE A GREAT RESPECT FOR SERTRALINE IT GAVE ME BACK MY LIFE. GOOD LUCK AND HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER SOON. LUCKY
I've been on sertraline just under 12 months, and I had side effects similar to yours when I started. First of all, they should go soon - I had side effects for about 3 weeks then they tailed off. For me the sickness was the biggest problem and nearly led to me stopping the tablets. Just to warn you it did get a bit worse after a few days to the point I was actually physically sick on a couple of occasions, but I found, like Lucky, that eating a bit helps. If you can't face much, try rice cakes or crackers - a friend who'd suffered morning sickness recommended them and they did settle things down. Also peppermint tea is good. I actually lost my appetite for a while, but it came back quickly and I haven't had any problems since. I agree with Lucky - sertraline did the trick for me so I hope it will for you too
