My husband died in October after 3 1/2 years illness. I have now developed health anxiety and am afraid to touch anywhere in case I find a lump etc.
How long before the tabs should make me feel better - any thoughts/comments ? Thanks
Hi Janet...I am so sorry to hear of your loss.This or any other anti depressant medication can take a little while to kick in.Hopefully you might feel better within 2 to 3 weeks of starting.It really does vary.On the other hand you may well feel better sooner.Try not to think about it too much,with luck if you go about your daily routine,perhaps you'll simply notice you're feeling better!All the best.Sally x

Hi Janet, so sorry to hear about your loss.
Sertraline can take a while to kick in (2 - 4 weeks) and for many people things get worse before they get better!
If you've not got any side effects that's good but if you have it maybe a good idea to get some additional help if they are giving you problems. Diazepam I hear is good if you can get some, the doc prescribed for me propanalol to get me through the bad times..

Im so so sorry to hear about your husbands death. My Gran died last december and its very hard. I was on sertraline for my depression and anxiety. And also had bad intrusive thoughts. I went to see a crisis team that helped me greatly. With my Medication if it wasnt for sertraline and anti-phycotic Medication it really helped me. But i come off my meds to early after feeling good all year but since its been the anniversary of me grans death i got the symptoms back. Stick in there hun they really do help x
