hi everyone, im new here. ive just got put on escitalopram 10mg for depression and anxiety, and i started the first pill last night at bedtime, and was feeling fine but when i woke up this morning, ive been feeling dizzy and nausea all day long. i found out that i had an allergic reation to the citalopram, is there a difference in this name of meds. bc i have the same side effects to this new one like i did the other one.
I was dizzy and nauseous for about 4 days. Taking it at night helps and make sure you eat a snack. I didn’t do well on citalopram. It made me throw up and have bad reactions. But the escitalopram didn’t make me have reactions just a bit of sickness as I adjusted.
I have to take it right at bedtime, today is the second day that it's been making me feel dizzy and a little nauseated. I had a bad reaction also to the citalopram, made me also throw up and nausea everyday and dizzy where I ended up blacking out. So I'll try and give it a couple more days and if the effects don't go away, I'll call my doctor. I have an 11 year old son to take care of and i can't be feeling this way all the time.
How are you doing? It takes time for it to get in your system but all the nausea and weird feelings go away after a few weeks of starting and when you increase, you will have mild side effects again that don't last as long. I ate ginger chews and had ginger tea to help with the nausea. Good luck!
Hi. I'm doing ok. This is new to me. It's been 3 days so far, still feeling the dizzy thing, and the nausea all day during the day. If not better doctor is getting a phone call by the end of the week.
Have you asked your doctor for any anti nausea meds? My doctor started me on 4mg every 6 hours initially. It helped so so much.
No i havent. I'll be calling him though bc it's been day 4 and still have the side effects.
How are you feeling now?
Hi a angela,
I’m new too. I am on day 9 of 10 mg, taking at night. Drowsiness and some nausea, Are the expected side effects of Escitalopram. It still makes me drowsy, my libido is gone too, but I really have not experienced nausea (a little nausea on day 1 only).
