I'm a 20 year old woman. I've been suffering from Major Depressive Disorder for years now, as well as generalised anxiety and potentially Borderline Personality Disorder (diagnosis yet to be confirmed).
I've been on Seroquel 50mg for about 2 months now, I was prescribed it to help ease my anxiety and aid sleep. Recently things have gotten very rough, so they made changes to my medication.
I was told to continue taking Seroquel 50mg at night, but in addition to begin taking Lustral 50mg in the morning, and Seroquel 25mg during the day to help ease my anxiety.
I've been on several antidepressants including Lustral before, all of which gave me unbearable nausea and insomnia. I'm very scared to start taking Lustral again. My main concerns for side effects are extreme nausea and insomnia. It's Christmas so I want to relax and have a nice couple of weeks off, however I'm scared these side effects will get in the way.
How many of you have experienced unbearable nausea with Lustral? Do you think the Seroquel will counteract possible insomnia? I can't remember what side effects I experienced with this medication or why I went off it. I'd love to hear your experience with taking either Lustral or a combination of both Lustral and Seroquel.
Hi Alexis...I have been taking Lustral 50 mg for approximately 4 months now, with no ill effects.I had been on Citalopram 10 mg for about 4 years prior to the Lustral, but stopped taking the Citalopram in the Autumn of 2013.I was OK for awhile until a few months in to 2014.I knew I needed to go back on medication, but wanted a different drug to Citalopram, which also seemed to leave me with severe fatigue. This was part of the reason I wanted to stop taking it,I was always feeling exhausted.I started on 25 mg of Lustral for about 3 weeks to allow my body to adjust slowly, then upped the dose to 50 mg.Everyone is different as you know,in their experience of side effects. However the only thing I would suggest,as it cannot do any harm,is to start taking the Lustral in a lower dose and then increase it.Perhaps this might enable you to tolerate it better? All the best and keep us posted.Sally
Hey Sally, thanks for your reply. I'm glad to hear you had no ill effects with Lustral, but youre right everybody is different. My psychiatrist told me 50mg is a very small dose and the minimal dose to see effect, can I ask you does the 25mg dose tablet you took does it come in one tablet? Do you have to take two to make up 50mg, or would you know if the 50mg dose is in one tablet so you cant split it into 2 (1x25mg)?
Hi Alexix....Your psychiatrist is absolutely right.I halved the dose only because I didn't want to freak myself out by the side effects! The tablet doesn't come in a 25 mg dose to my knowledge. It is easy to halve the 50mg with a pill cutter, though there may occasionally be a little difference in the 2 halves.Hope this helps.Sally x
