Hi I have been taking 100mg of sertraline for about your weeks now and the Dr hasaid just added in 15mg Mirtazapine I am due to start this tonight but as soon scared does anybody else take this combination? I am thinking about only taking half of tablet tonight to see how I get on . Any feedback would be appreciated
Thanks
I think its lower doses that are more sedating
Hi Collette
I take 100mg sertraline and 7.5mg mirt.
I originally took just the sertraline. It was good for my anxiety but I had terrible insomnia. My doctor mentioned mirt but at first I declined it because of the weight gain which it often causes. However I was desperate - so changed my mind. Right from the start mirt (15mg) cured the insomnia, and I felt "normal" again.
There were some side effects. Vivid dreams and sweating soon improved.
The ones I now live with are needing LOTS of sleep ( eg 11 hours) and feeling hungry after taking the mirt.
I reduced the dose of mirt to 7.5mg in case that helps with the hunger. I do not know if it does. The lower dose did not seem to alter the anti-insomnia effect.
Over the months since I started the mirt I have found it takes longer and longer to get to sleep. I suppose my body is getting used to it. However I am far better off than I was before starting it.

Thank you so much for replying x
