Hi everyone!
I've been on Sertraline now for pretty much exactly six months and I'm just now beginning to taper off. I'm on a 50mg dose and was advised by my doctor to reduce to once every two days and then three times a week, and so on. I've recently broken up with my girlfriend of just over a year but it's given me the opportunity to really focus on getting better for me and since beginning a yoga program I'm feeling - touch wood - rather positive.
Is anyone else currently lowering their dose/has done already? I'm trying to get off in time for university in September as I'm moving to London and want to start a totally new life. Any encouraging stories would be amazing!
Feel free to share, and I hope you're all well,
H.
Hi Haz
I was on 150mg daily for 18 months, I came off them 2 months ago, like you I tapered down though not as slowly as you are doing, the first month was awful, felt like I was slipping down a black hole, and anxiety attacks as well, but on the plus side, my sex drive is back!! I put on 2 stone whilst on them , so now it's diet time with a vengeance, so good luck, stick with it, so much better than filling your system with all those meds.
Hi
Sorry I can't help you with getting off sertraline
But I'm just startup on this med did it work for you at 50mg ? if so how long did it take to feel better ? And why are you stoping it ?
Cheers
Hi haz2476
Sorry for your break up but great you are being so positive!!!
Everyone is different, some suffer coming off of them some don't
I was once on venlafaxin for 2 years, but my liver count went very high so had to come off of them. There are horror stories of reducing them, but luckily for me apart from brain zaps and aches, I was ok.
Stick with it, you have got a while before uni so don't rush it!!! Well done to you!
It is better than putting these chemicals in is, but sadly for a lot of people, it's a helping hand that is needed. Best of luck
