Starting Orlistat tomorrow

Hi I'm new here and starting my tablets tomorrow I'm excited about losing weight but nervous if I get it wrong - any hints or tips greatly appreciated

I'm sure you've read that keep to anything under 5% fat - so when you're looking at a nutritional label, as long as its less that 5g fat per 100g, you'll be fine. You can eat 45g of fat per day, no more than 15g per meal.

You're better off starting after a couple of days of following the diet - thats what I did and I didn't get any orange oil.

You'd be surprised at how much stuff you can have on this, have a look at Supermarket's low fat ranges - Tesco is 'Healthy Living' & ASDA is 'Good and counted'. They do loads of stuff thats less that 5% fat and it makes it easier. I also bought the alli book from amazon as its the over-the-counter version of orlistat and it comes with a diet book which has loads of recipes.

I hope this helps! I've been on them for a few weeks but did loads of research before I actually started taking them.

Good luck

Thanks Katie will have a look for that book you mention. No oil so far and have lost three quarters of a pound since Saturday so it looks like it is going in the right direction xx

Thats great! I'm not weighing myself until I go to the doctors, but its getting so tempting

Thats great about the no oil, you're obviously doing something right!

If you don't have the time to spend in the supermarket looking at labels, I do my shopping online and found they tend to have the nutritional information for most of their products, so you can do it at home I found loads of things that you can have on these pills like sweets and certain types of frozen yoghurt (if you have a sweet tooth like me). Obviously don't go mad, but its nice to know you're not stuck eating lettuce every day

Let me know how you get on x

Thanks for the reply, I've lost 3lbs since I started my pills on Saturday so I'm really chuffed :-)

I can't eat frozen things like lollies, ice cream etc due to it triggering a type of neuralgia.

I've discovered that bagels are low in fat and very filling.

Let me know how you get on when you get weighed
