Hi day 1 of taking sertraline 50mg I'm concerned about the side effects mainly the risks of my anxiety attacks becoming worse, has this been a big problem for anyone else? Also felt a little strange about an hour or so after taking it my arms and chest felt warm and a little heavy should this happen so soon after just one dose? Just a little worried, if anyone can help would be appreciated. :-)
Iv been on sertraline before n didn't notice side effects apart from night sweats but this time I feel like iv had everyone!! More anxious at first so you need to stick with IT and I'm nearly at 2 wks taking it but still depressive thoughts, after a month should feel the benefit but first few weeks are hard. I'v taken propanlol to help me through n some people take diazepam to help with anxiety, good luck and keep coming

Hang in there. Once it kicks in after a month or so of being at clinical dosage you'll be glad you stuck it out - because it does get much, much better... that feeling of the clouds parting and the sun coming out for the first time in a long time is worth it. I like Kalms or rescue remedy for anxiety (I wasn't prescribed Sertaline for anxiety as much as depression), or even the odd 2mg diazepam but I tried to stay away from other meds on top of the SSRI. Good luck, things will improve.

I was prescribed diazapam for the 1st 2 weeks which halped a lot even though I hated taking even more tablets. As soon as I could, I stopped them and I am fine now, keep going with the sertraline even if you feel at the moment they are not working and there is lots of support on this forum x
