Starting sertraline

I started 50mg of sertraline yesterday, after being off of escitalopram for about a week. Today I feel very spaced out and anxious, can anyone please share their experiences of starting this antidepressant?

hi there.

im on sertraline. i started on 25mg for a week then told to start taking full 50mg tablet. i was on 50mg for 12 weeks and 2 weeks ago got increased to 100mg. when i started them i had some side effects.

sleepiness and spaced out

light nausea

hightened anxiety

mild headaches( only for 2 days).

the side effects only lasted 2 weeks and then went away complety even as i increased dosage. stick with it and see what happens. you have probably heard the stories about sertraline side effects and how horrid they are, it depends on the person. for me it wasnt as bad as i thought it would be.

i hope the medicine improves your anxiety when it starts working.

I used to take sertraline, the initial few weeks after starting it involved some weird sensations (lightheaded, etc.), that gradually subsided as I adapted to the medication. Overall, I took it daily for a few years and didn’t really experience any noticeable side effects.

I started on them 2 weeks ago..felt horrible first week.

Just drowsy and dizzy. Feel fine now. Stick with it 😊

Zoloft is a trade name for Sertraline. My wife is taking it, not sure at what dosage-I'll have to ask her.

She started about 3 months ago, says she thinks it's working fine. Few side effects, but the ones you are describing are typical. They don't last, a few weeks maybe.

Good luck!

Hi Rebecca I have been on Sertraline for 2 years now and it has definitely helped eventually. The first frw months were horrendous. Nausea, suicidal thoughts, anxiety through the roof including shaking from head to foot but I persevered. and now I am tons better. I would like to come off it but I am frightened of the consequences. Sadly these tablets become like a comfort blanket to us but I guess if they help us with our anxiety then that's got to be a good thing. I wish you well.
