I am starting to make a connection with what is going on with me. I still have a couple of appointments with specialists and a few more tests to be done, but I think I have a theory to discuss with my physician. I'm not sure how common this may be or if any of you in the community have experienced this but here's what I think may be going on: okay, I had H Pylori, thats what started my stomach problems. I now have GERD and will be checked for a hiatal hernia. I was just recently diagnosed with PVC (premature ventricular contractions) and I also didn't hit the normal range on a PFT (pulmonary function test). I showed signs of asthma. Okay, so considering I developed breathing and sinus issues right after having H Pylori on top on developing bad anxiety and getting PVC symptoms around the same time as well, I think the vagus nerve is playing a strong role in this. It controls the stomach, heart, and lungs and is the longest autonomous nerve in the body. So, if I have a hiatal hernia, obviously it will cause the discomfort in the chest, put pressure on my diaphragm and make breathing difficult as well as agitate the heart. When I eat big meals, my PVC acts up and I get a lot of chest pressure. So that would make sense. And having anxiety on top of that can intensify the symptoms and contribute to the problem. But if I don't have a hiatal hernia, I do have acid reflux. It is known to irritate the lining of the esophagus, which can cause asthma or breathing problems and even sinus problems. Not only that, but the esophagus is next to the heart and so if its constantly irritated, it can affect the heart, causing PVC and again, anxiety doesn't help any of this. My cardiologist told me anxiety and stress alone can cause PVC and we all know anxiety doesn't help with breathing. So all in all I think that all 3 of these are causing each other to act up. My stomach is the culprit along with my anxiety and I think if I can take care of my stomach issues and then focus on my mental health, my breathing and heart issues will clear up. If anyone feels that this is crazy and that there is no way any of these could be linked to each other, then go ahead and say it. I want to know everyone's opinions, advice, and feedback.
what are your symptoms exactly ? i have sever anxiety and get stomach cramps because of it.
i am convinced the vagus nerve has a lot to do with my symptoms of anxiety and depression mixed with nausea. i cannot find anything to help. dr seems useless
something strange going on when so many posts being deleted by moderator here today, any idea what we are saying wrong???
Hi Lionman2727,
You sound so much like me. I also had H.Pylori and currently have sinus issues, acid reflux and breathing problems. I suffer from anxiety which does contribute to these and I know they all worsen one another as I panic as soon as I start to feel full/uneasy/pains. In the new year I’ll go back to the drs and asked to be tested for a hiatal hernia. I’m currently on omeprazole and still feeling horrible everyday.
Your theory sounds correct to me and I’m relieved to hear I’m not the only one with these symptoms.
