Stay away from citalopram

I took 1 x citralopram 20 mg tens ago and immediately stopped. I'm obviously not as depressed as I thought I was, after taking this rubbish. This product, in my eyes, is nothing short of horrendous. My view is that it might work for some (doubt it), but definetly not for others....

This medicine is serious stuff, and is essential for many people with serious health issues.  If taken correctly it has been a godsend to many who otherwise have tried all other channels.  It certainly works as I and many others can vouch for that.

Yes indeed, it may not be for everyone, but it is for most, and for those who are persevering on this need encouragement.

It was great for me for 5 years. I don't think it's nice of you to offer such an uninformed view based on 1 tablet.

It's not supportive of people who have just been put on it and who it may help immeasurably. It takes time to work and for people who have just taken this path, they need an incredible amount of support and reassurance that there is something which will help them.

It doesn't work for everyone, but there are thousands of people who may have not been here today without it.

we'll said.........just like me I'm starting it tomorrow and I'm terrified x

Don't be scared, hun! It's difficult and it's no easy decision to make to go on them.  You feel like you've given up and stopped fighting.  Like its the cowards way out.  But it really isn't. It'll help you take a step back and look at your problems objectively.

The first couple of months are the hardest.  Don't expect to start feeling better for about 6 wks, but tick off the days, because you will feel better.  Side effects can be tough at first, but you have to give it a chance to see if it suits you.  Be patient.  You will get there!

I came off it completely 5 wks ago after 5 years! If I can go on it and come off it in one piece anyone can!

Good luck and hang in there! Xxx

Hi all, I apoligise for my comment, I really didn't mean it too sound so terrible. I know it does help thousands of people, just not me. Yes, I only took one, so maybe I should have kept my comments to myself

Good luck all...

Yes, like Ness said, they are tough to take, but they are so worth it.  Try not to worry, take it slowly, and remember you they aren't a quick overnight fix and not even in weeks ....... you may feel worse at the beginning, but that's normal, and eventually you'll feel the benefit.  They cured me from a long, long dark time in my life.

My son had a terrible breakdown last year and went through hell, which was devastating to us all, and he started a similar medicine to this ..... 5 tough months later he was back to his normal happy self again.  That was all a year ago now.  Don't know where we'd be without these.

Yes, be patient and keep persevering through the medication.  You'll get there too.

No worries Frank xxx

Just that there are some very vulnerable people on this site who take everything they read to heart.  Sorry you had a bad experience on them and hope you find something that will help you.

Cheers Frank. No probs.  take care

I started them 6 days ago I keep getting headaches and had a horrible faintly attack today. I'm only on 5 mg a day. Could they be doing this to me ?

Hi Kim, if the symptoms started when you took this, well it's evident it must be them. I'm no medical expert and I'm sure this works for some people, but I wouldn't be taking these, there must be an alternative to this product...
