hi...I just had cataract surgery, and have been using several eye drops. one is a steriod. I have horrible anxiety and can't tolerate any oral steriods. any one ever have an eye drop increase their anxiety? Also flushed warm face?
i had cataract surgery last tuesday so i am day 9 now.
i have been awful… i am on maxidex but historically i have struggled with ocd and anxiety.
previous to cataract surgery i have had some stressful episodes to deal with medically so it could be a combination but i am obsessing massively over my operated eye… washing hands repetitively, worrying that the chicken that was 4 days put of date in the fridge somehow sent bacteria to the eye…
my first night i was in agony as they scratched my cornea in anaesthetic, i have had what appears to have been dry eye in both eyes and it has been like having lemon juice squirted in my eye. so whilst i am really optimistic about the visual outcome i am a nightmare at the moment. i have two young boys so i am worried about them coughing, having dirty hands and getting an infection… which could be devastating…
the opthalmologist looked at my eye on day 7 and said it has healed beautifully. obviously my anxiety wont let me get comfort from that… i dont know if its the maxidex but i habe felt incredibly anxious and depressed.
