Steroid injection in hand but don't understand the results

Hi all. I had a ultrasound guided steroid injection this week. I had MRI of both wrists which showed mild right distal radio- ulnar joint

Synovitis with some associated extensor carpi ulnaris tendinopathy. When they done the ultrasound there was no evidence of joint synovitis. Can anyone explain what this means in Laymans terms as these big words mean nothing to me thank you. I just want to no what they found. Confused x

Hi daniw,

They sure make these things difficult for patients to understand! If it were me I would call the my doctors office and tell them you are having difficulty understanding your results. Ask if they can please have the doctors nurse or assistant call you back or make an appointment for a follow up to go over the results. I live in the States so this is doable I am not sure about the UK. You have every right to have your results explained in a way that you can understand you just need to advocate for yourself a little and don't be shy. It is a perfectly reasonable request. Good luck and feel better,

Sally

Hi sally

Your right think il give the doctors a call. I wish they would make these letters easier to understand x

Hi, I had something so similar to what you experienced but mine was in my knees and behind my knees that was guided by ultrasound. They aspirated behind my knees ( bakers cyst) Then shot the knees with steriod medication. The synovial fluid built up and burst These bakers cysts cause so much pain that I literally can't walk. I too dont understand all of this so I called the doctors office yesterday and the doctor is suppose to call me on Monday to explain in a language I can understand. Good luck to you.
