steroids

i have lost computer access for awhile but am back on line, but i lost all my contacts etc . slowly finding things again. i came off steroids alltogether, stoping them slowly over a period of time, then a few days later pain started in my legs and worsened and they became inflammed. i had gotten very intensive inflammation of the legs. phelbitis. the doctor suggested that fluid had been building up because of taking the steroids over a period of time, stopping the steroids made the inflamation occur. i am now on morphine for the intense pain, this has been going on for some three months now. steroids are a no no for me at this stage.mobility has worsened, and i am virtually not able to walk far at all. feel as if i have entered another dark tunnel. but keep smiling.

Dear Margaret,

I hope the pain has lessened by now. I don't have any experience of this but I'm sure others will reply as well with their experiences.

I am taking some natural supplements that can help with inflammation such as Omega-3 fish oil, tumeric capsules, glucosamine. I don't know if any of those would be worth trying for you.

Very best wishes, Enid

Margaret

I would love to come and see you - but currently am laid up with pseudo-gout. Can't take the volteral, so Consultant has proscibed Glucosimine and Chondiniton (spelling)

Hang on in there - you are one feisty lady.

Now then MrsK - you haven't been following the discussion with the advantages of red wine/white wine/fizzy wine too closely have you? :-)

Ouch, though, as if PMR wasn't enough!

get well soon,

EileenH

Margaret - So sorry you are having such trouble with your phlebitis.....as if PMR isn't enough to cope with. Perhaps you could try eating garlic daily? It will thin the blood and therefore I feel sure will help with the phlebitis. I eat a whole clove daily (preferably in the evenings so as not to frighten everyone away!) and my husband has the odourless garlic tablets. Hope things start looking up for you soon.

Hi there Mrs K and I'm so sorry to hear that you're suffering with pseudo-gout as if GCA wasn't enough to cope with. I'm sorry to be a bore but just drink lots and lots of water and I'm sure that will flush it out fast so that you can enjoy a spritzer on our forthcoming joint special day! Best wishes.

Eileen h and Mrs O

What do I do with the pair of you.

Pseudo gout - caused by calcium crystals in the knee that is why it false.

I will be having a drink on the 'twin-day' but it is now a 'triplet' day, Liam will be 8, I will be into my third overdraft year, and I am too much a lady to ask.

Eileen it is ouch, I thought I knew what pain was - or mayne I had just forgot.

Hello Mrs K - Just to cheer you up, I don't think it's your third overdraft year yet.....remember that the 60's are apparently the new 50's now, etc. Do hope that knee is recovering so that you can enjoy this special Easter weekend - we've had our hot cross buns for breakfast, will have our traditional fish for dinner....... and I'm using all my willpower to save at least some of my choccie egg for Easter Day! :chick:
