Hi its me Manny Ok tomorrow is 8 weeks since FKR and I'm still stuck at 88 degree bend and 4 straightning. On a everyday schedule little pain walking with cane some times or nothing at home. Go to therapy 3 times a week and it's painful oly when they push to reach my bend. Is 88 to little at 8 weeks. Going to see surgeon today and I feel he is going to say manipulation is needed. Very scared please advice what should I do. When I had my first othoscopic surgeries it too a log time time to bend my knee same for my shoulder. So I don't know if I'm just a slow heeler or not doing good.
I'm 9 weeks today following patella femoral replacement (plastic knee cap and metal trochlea, the bit behind it). Am at 100° bend and can completely straighten but it's been a really long hard slog to this point. I understood that recovery from this surgery was "quicker" than for a TKR so have been disappointed with my progress to date. However when I had arthroscopy in 2004 (which was a simple procedure compared to recent operation) I was told I'd be off work 3 weeks to recover, but was actually off 12 weeks! At this moment I'm signed off work until 25 June, at which point I'll have been off 14 weeks. So, have given up worrying, everything will come right in its own time, and everyone heals differently. It's so frustrating, something I never accounted for, and I'm not known for being patient, but my situation has made me realise that you do just have to listen to your body and take it one day at a time.
It took me 10 weeks to get a 90 bend and 5 extension hard and painful chore but am now 14 weeks and getting more of a bend every week - today was helped by tripping over my shoe (only swore under my breath and shed a tear or three)
So you are getting there when they say it's a hard slog they didn't warn us how hard!
Hey Manny, I think although all of us have common problems, each person is different. I think just do the best you can and try to have more patience than say, me, and you'll get it done. I think they want to do the manipulation for adhesions etc and I have not gone thru that so no advice... sorry mate. Hang tough.
