Morning fellow Hippies
Long time no speak. Im still experiencing some soreness (muscle, not the scar which is looking fine and dandy!) near the scar. it feels as though its is pulling inside - weird feeling. My husband keeps reminding me that its only just over three months - I had the THR on left on Feb 4 this year - but I would have thought by now it should be well on the mend internally too.
Anyone else had/has a similar experience?
Laters.

Hi Jan
Had my right THR on 5th Feb. Still experiencing some discomfort around scar area, feels almost like I'm sitting on something!
I was told before I left hospital that it can take a year for the muscles to fully recover. Do you still do the exercises? I find it helps but forget to do them.
i'm just so pleased to be free of the pre-op pain. Hopefully this will go away eventually.
"Pull" describes everything. ... Correctly. All that muscle has been cut open, stretched, then sewn up, and stretched I think is what we feel. I am 18 months and that feeling of discomfort there has never left. Possibly to do with how much the muscle has had to be stretched to fit around the prosthesis ... In my case the prosthesis sticks out, so the stretch is greater and the muscle compromised. It is an inexorably slow process for that muscle to regain it's original integrity. I think we just have to get used to it, I've done so much physio, chiro, Pilates, and a minute doesn't go by when I forget what has evolved not permanent discomfort and feeling of fragility there.
Hi Jan,
I had my op just a couple of weeks before you and I've been feeling a similar sensation in the last couple of weeks. A sort of stinging in the scar area. I think it's just the muscle or internal healing. I only feel it when I've been walking briskly for a while.
Is that what you're feeling?
Cathy
Same here ... I am 8 weeks post op and have noticed this pain or pulling sensation in and around my scar since week 5 ... I have my follow up visit May 13 and will know more, I hope ... my scar is about 5 inches and sort of sad smile shaped (:-() - my undies are bothering me too as it seems to rest on the scar ...phew ... the things we are dealing with, right ?
Morning Jan,
I had my LTHR on 24 Feb so just a couple of weeks behind you. My scar looks ok but I have a pulling sensation too and sometimes it feels a bit warm but that doesn't last long. I guess it depends very much on the individual. I carry quite a bit more weight then I should so I would imagine my surgery was a bit more invasive, not sure really, but I do think 3 months is still very early in recovery from such major surgery.
Are you walking ok? I am going through a bit of an achey/limping phase, so have been a bit down past couple of weeks. Going to try hard to get going again this week.
Good luck I'm sure you are on the right track.
Jane
Hi Jan same here at 15 weeks, if I've been busy doing things and walking etc, I get a tingling from my scar area and pricking and a bit sore, but nothing to worry about, it goes with rest and certainly isn't painful, it just seems like a reminder to me that its there, like an internal memo lol !
Hello Jan, yes I also had this experiance and still sometimes even now after 9mths of having my right THR. It is just the muscle re-building and scar tissue inside. I find still using bio-oil at least once a day along the scar helps.Regards Arthur
Thanks v much for response - just need to be patient, I think.
Walking, etc fine but sitting still feels sensitive on the scar line too.
Best.

Hi
Just reading this in a service station! Am driving 230 miles today to see family. Am stopping every 30 miles, walking around and giving my scar area a rest. I'm 9 weeks post op. Going to be a long journey I think!!
Love to all hippies who are the only ones that really understand what it's like
