Still having anxiety mental symptoms

I've been on fluoxetine 20mg for about 7-8 weeks. It helped alot. Times where I'm actually living and no feat or weird thoughts. Physical symptoms are basically gone. But still have times where the mental symptoms still happen. WeiRd thoughts, mind going blank, depression, depersonalization, just not myself etc. But there are more moments of hope and happiness and the intrusive thoughts have gone away as well. Does this mean I have to up the dosage ? Has anyone had this experience? Please any feedback or solutions.

Hi Matthew.  I've been taking fluoxetine 20mg for 9 weeks and have had a slight improvement, albeit this has been very gradual.  I have some relatively reasonable days but, like you, I also have days where I feel that I've "gone back down again" i.e. mind going blank, general feeling of disinterest and feeling detached from what's going on around me.  I understand, from what I've read, that this is to be expected.  Since being prescribed the meds, I have seen my GP approx every 3 weeks and have discussed my progress, during which I've been assured that this scenario is normal.  My GP also told me that treating depression and seeing positive results is a lengthy process which, although it varies from person to person, frequently takes many months.  Try not be get dispirited (I know it's easier said than done).  Perhaps it would help if you arrange to see your GP and discuss your concerns.

Thank you for your response. Really. It helps alot that I'm not the only one dealing with this. Talking to the doctor soon.

You are very welcome.  I know what you mean about it helping that you're not the only one dealing with it.  I don't personally know anyone who has suffered from depression and it's often quite difficult to relate your feelings to someone who hasn't experienced it.  I do find it reassuring reading through the posts on this forum as you can quite easily see that so many people are having similar experiences.  I hope all goes well when you see your doctor and that you continue to move forward.
