Still having surgery pain?

Its been 3 months and I still have pain. Not my OA pain but surgery pain on the side of my hip. Sometimes the top of my thigh hurts on the side of my hip too.

Anybody else experiencing this?

I think that you should go back for a more thourough diognosis, it is past the 12 weeks that the Physio people have their faith in, please get on to them and the GP soon.

Ian.

Hi Miele

I'm sorry to hear you're in pain. I'm 5 months post op and experiencing, pain on walking.  Im going back to see my surgeon as I feel I should be in a better place than this at this stage.

Is yours when walking or stationary, or all the time?

Juliet, UK

Hi Miele, i'm 9 weeks and  my wound site is still tender. There are the remains of bruises and it is numb in places. The thigh just below the wound is also tender. It is too sore to lie on still.

It also itches sometimes!

Today I climbed up a ladder to do some pruning and it feels a bit uncomfortable now - using muscles I haven't used a lot I suppose.

My pain or tenderness is felt most of the time but it's nothing drastic. I guess I expected to have absolutely no pain after all this.

Hi there! I am exactly the same as you! 3months tomorrow! I have a dull ache in the hip and also oa in my other hip and both knee's! The trouble is that I am tense most of the time. I am having reflexology and am going to join a spa pool to see if this helps. So many interfering people in my life telling me to excerise. Almost wish I had never had this op! I am my Hubby's carer as he's disabled too with oa of spine, hips and knee's. He's also severely sighted and deaf. Sorry to rant. Regards Amanda

Well I guess everyone's healing rate is so different, sounds like just part of the process though. I agree, I wouldn't expect this much pain so late in the day .

I just get so anxious because I hear of how everybody seems to be doing so well and I seem to be lagging behind. I guess my pain is also like a dull ache. It doesn't burn or stab but I know it's there. Keep your head up Amanda. It just has to get better!

That is the only problem with this site which is generally very good - I always find there are some better off and some worse - so feel really sorry for those in a lot of difficulty who if they read a lot of posts could get depressed! It is difficult to compare though as everyone has different starting points, fitness, ages and different ops!

Dear Miele,I find this forum great because of the fact we can share everything - our lows and setbacks, feeling crappy at times we think we should be further along and also all the little victories and accomplishments - please do not compare - as said before, we all heal in our own time, at our own speed ...

I feel the same kind of pain or discomfort at the surgical site - My scar feels tight eventhoug I massage it with Bio Med oil - like you said; a dull ache and sometimes it feels like burning or even stabbing - top and side of my thigh are still tender to the touch -

wishing you a good and peaceful night - big hug

As much as I hate to see people in pain, I'm glad that you are experiencing the same sort of pain that I am. It calms my nerves to know.

I wish you great recovery!

I am 3 months post op also and still have pain in my incision, my upper thigh and muscle tightness in the leg. Sometimes I turn the wrong way and feel a twinge. My first hip replacement was not painful at all. And my incision is firey red, not like the other one
