Hi can someone please advise me what to do. Been having a really stressful time lately. My gastritis has really flared up. Only difference is I have pain and an aching in my side and feel like my ribs are being squashed front and back. It's really worrying me. I have just started using apple cider vinegar but not doing much apart from making me pee alot. Can gastritis make you feel like your ribs hurt? I'm really worried been to docs one said she thought I was run down because of all the stress and another gave me tablets for trapped wind (which are not working). Please someone help!!
Now and then my stomach flares up out of the blue, another my my anxiety symptoms that plague me.
Firstly, worrying will create more acid thus more pain. I use a hot water bottle on my tummy to ease it and have started drinking chamomile tea which is a Godsend. I've even been known to soak ion a warm bath for relief
I know it's scary and painful dear but it is common. Sometimes it has felt as though my ribs are broken! Well, in my own mind anyway.
What tablets were you given? Sometimes they take time to get into the sysytem.
I can tell you what i have done. Basically a mini fast of filtered water and can add whatever you want to the water that aids digestion like cucumbers, celery, lemon balm.ginger .etc..but a day of it. To give the body a rest really. You can use a nutrional shakes or drink in there as well. I tend to do that. Be sure you are moving your bowels regularly they have a lot of help in the pharmacies for that. Juicing is actually very helpful in this area but you would need to google the specific recipes for the ailment you are having. (Bloating, gas, gastritis) You goal is to relieve the air pockets in there. Diet plays a role, anxiety plays a role, meds play a role. So do the best you can. Id stay far away from heavy meals, dairy, can use a little diary if needed) processed junk, greasy foods, sodas, meats and such until the bloating calms down. Also add a probiotic if you can tolerate them to your daily life. Fermented foods are natural probiotics if that helps. Thats what i do. I Went to a nutrition a couple of times years back. One told me stay away from "white" foods and raw veggies. I love bread haha so i didnt exactly do that.
You need to consume half your body weight in liquid ounces a day always. Soda, caffiene drink do not count ..That is the proper hydration level. Thats the goal.
Ooh so sorry for the add ons.walk. Walk alot. The walking gets the body organs moving about better. You can walk outside or on a treadmill. Here they say 10,000 steps a day.
5 miles a day
And a thank you from me for the advice! I love bread too But I'm Austrian ( live in England ) and wouldn't eat English bread ( no offense to the English ) I like good solid German/Italian bread. One of my many, many vices!!!!!!
Have been on lansoprazole for few years but had bad uti with ALOT of bleeding anxiety and stress levels were through the roof. Got 3 weeks antibiotics but was so worried hardly ate which I think was what brought it on 😥
It sounds like it doesn't it? No wonder your tummy flared up, you poor thing! Is the pain improving honey ? Antibiotics are going to take a week to kick in. Coddle yourself, dear, warm baths, hot tea ( not glasses of milk! They made me worse!)
Huge hugs....Helen xx
That was about 6 weeks ago but not getting any better. well one day it seems to be improving the next it's as bad as ever again. Had endoscopy 11 months ago which said mild gastritis but by then the last but was just about over. I've had pain before and it cleared but this rib pain just won't go away x
I once had gastritis. Don't ever want it again Man, is it painful! It will like as not fade away as you stress less about it but if it is continuing you should go back and see your Gp...not because I think there is anything untoward wrong with you, but for your own peace of mind
The thing that works for me with gas (wind) if club soda. I drink a few big swallows and belch like crazy. Try one big gulp first. The other thing is chewing a Tums until it turns to liquid then swallow.
I also rub pure topical magnesium oil into skin over abdomen and stomach. You can get this on line.
Thankyou can I put that on my back too
Absolutely! You will need some one to srpray it on and rub it in well. If you are having back spasms and are alone, just spray about five sptays on your inner thigh and rub it in well. The skin absorbs quickly, and the mag. will get in your bloodstream quickly, so it will still help your back. Make sure you wash your hands after using. It is a heavy oil, so will leave a little stickness....you don't want to rub in your eyes. (I tend to rub mine.)
When my feet spasm, I do my thigh, and usually get relief in less than one minute. Hugs
Thankyou have ordered some. I just hope if pain goes my anxiety will go with it x
Must try that You need someone to spray it on? I know one thing, it won't be Sean Connery, lol
Oh Yes! My ribs hurt and I've had gastritis for many years. It's a nuisance but try to ignore it, Carole. I hope you're taking meds for the gastritis. I promise you that you'll gradually stop feeling this rib pain.
Just noticed that you're NOT taking meds thanks to doctor...........it all depends on what's causing it as to what you need, but things like gaviscon help a lot.. Or pepcid if you're in the US.

How about Harrison Ford.....yummy. I'll help him find the lost ark anytime..
It helps with muscle pain and digestion. That will help you focus on other things you can do to help yourself handle the anxiety, Sweet Thing.
