Hi Lora
I have had both hips replaced the 1st over 8 moths ago and the 2nd 8 weeks after. I still have days l limp and still have days l get pain and stiffness especially in one hip. They say it can take up to a year to fully recover from hip reolacements but l still think l will be like this for a long time. My hips are great and l would not change them but l do have my bad days.

I'm stiff when I get up either from lying down or sitting. Once I get going I'm ok. Doc said it would be 4-6 months. Hope he's right.
Thank you, my hip feel good also
You're right about lying down or sitting to long I do be really stiff. I pray that you and me get better.

Im excaly 2 weeks after operation. Went to see the doctor. Need to do more walking and excesases. Alowed to slleep on on side with pilows between the legs. Im still have some pain apparently is normal. I limp to but doctor sad could change after for to 6 weeks. See what happens
Tomorrow I will be 10 weeks post bilateral hip replacements. I still feel very stiff and down my left thigh...below the scars area ...I get an ache that I can only describe as a toothache would feel. It is mostly a dull throbbing ache but sometimes feels sharper. I don't get the same feeling in my right leg. Hopefully it is just a healing pain.

I am 6 months post op, and just recently started to have a troubling new limp, some pain at hip area and related knee. XRays look ok for hip, but it seems that exercises and stretching are needed to strengthen thevmuscles in that thigh, hip, etc. Not completely sure that I need the PT I have just started for the first time ever, but it does seem clear that even simple stretching exercises are needed for me. The limp still comes back at times, but not a constant now.
Hi, I had a THR a few years ago and am due to have the other side done at some point. After my first I was limping still at about 10 weeks. My physio recommended using an exercise bike. Less than a week after starting to use it my limp was gone. The bike was strengthening my muscles. I still use it.
Thannk u for advice i have to wait onother 10 more weeks
Im just two weeks after sergery. But thank u for that. Madla

Yes Dash same. I constantly have pain still and when I step with every step. I also Parkinson's disease which doesn't help things. I don't hesitate to use my cane or a walker if it helps. My situation is different I know because of the Parkinson's but I keep exercising and Just give myself mentally a logger timeline and every day is going to be different. It's a huge operation. At change his leg length, I also have a pretty serious scoliosis and it's complicated to figure out what's what. So I just did my best with exercise, physical therapy, massage, have a rest and i and anti-inflammatories When bneeded

Hi Lora!
I am a little over a 1 1/2 years out.
I still have a slight limp especially if I'm tired.
And I still have pressure and stiffness especially in the morning trying to get out of bed.
Take your time!
Everybody heals at a different pace so don't rush it!
You'll get there>
Good luck to you!
Yep - I will be 12 months this coming weekend, just over 10 months since revision, and get similar pain and limp days ... I have resumed the Bio Oil massage of the scar, and use extra cushions at work and in the car.
I am also still unable to sleep for long on the operated side. Timed it last night, after 10 minutes it was unbearable .
I think we just have to keep up the exercises.
Thank you
Thank you and yes it gets uncomfortable to sleep on my surgery side, at times it feels like I'm sleeping on something hard.
Yes, that's it - just the same here - just like you can feel the hardware inside.
