Still suffering diarrhoea after having gallbladder and stones removed

Hi, i had my gallbladder removed 2 and half years ago but plenty of gallstones were left behind. I've had 4 ercp procedures to have them all taken out, the last one being last week. I'm losing weight too quick as everything I try to eat atm is giving me diarrhoea. Can anyone recommend what I should and shouldn't be eating and drinking. Thanks.

There's a gallbladder diet on this site.  You can also dry the fodmap diet which is available on line.  Finally, there is medication called cholestyramine which can help with the diarrhea.  As your doctor about it.  Best go luck to you.

Hi louise

I don't think there's a one size fits all for what you can eat or drink. My surgeon advised me to eat a normal diet and there was no need to avoid any food unless it caused a reaction.

But I know people who have been told to avoid fat, dairy etc. The only reaction I've had is to boiled sweets which give excruciating pain so I don't eat them.

Diarrhoea was a side effect of removal surgery I was warned about by my surgeon several times so I don't think food is the only factor.

A food diary is quite helpful in figuring out if a certain food is an issue.
